I remember the first time that my dad showed me how to use one of these 30 years ago, when I had boogered up the threads on an exhaust manifold bolt. I inherited that tool a few years ago from my dad, but it was just a single file with a limited selection of threads. This set is quite good! There are three pieces that seem like that cover almost every thread possibility, both SAE and Metric. The case is difficult to use (awkward to get the thread files in and out of the elastic) and I ended up ditching it, just leaving the thread files in my toolbox. The machining is really nice on these devices, the metal seems to be quite hardened and the rubber grippy handles are a nice addition. If you work on cars, these thread files are a great thing to have in order to clean up damaged threads.

These are as described and work well. I would recommend them.

They don’t work as well as most name brand thread files and takes a significant time for them to repair the threads.

I've actually had another set of these for years at work and wanted a set for home. The case is appreciated, but it is a bit of a pain to get the files back into the elastic straps. The files themselves were all nicely made, the machining is perfect. Not much else to say about the quality. That said, my experience with these files is that they can clean up the threads on softer bolts well enough, but I've never been able to get them back to "turn-by-finger" smooth again. It'll get you 90% there, but you're either going to have to deal with them being a bit rough or have something like a thread chaser to get the threads all the way there. But the nice thing about these is that if the threads are really torn up, you can get them to the 90% there pretty quickly.

If you ever cross threaded a bolt or banged up the ends working on your vehicle these save a trip to dealership or auto store . For instance my lower control arms attachment to my steering knuckle is a tricky alignment and easy to bugger up the thread . You can very easily ruin a $500 knuckle if your not careful so having files like this to clean and chase the bolt is handy and can save your butt as invariably this will happen on weekend when a uncommon bolt is not available quickly from auto supply or dealership is closed. These files cover almost every size you will encounter and takes up little space in your tool chest.

I have a few files from thread chaser sets and they are "okay" quality but when I saw these, I realized I really should have a set of dedicated thread files. I find thread files invaluable in some circumstances especially in places where you just can't get a die on there. So it was time to pull the trigger and get a set. This set has a nice variety of thread choices. If this set doesn't have what you need, you have something fairly uncommon! I also did a quick "hardness" test with an old school file I had from my grandfather...made when tools where of a higher standard IMO. The file just bounced right off without leaving a mark so these have a fairly high Rockwell number. The handles are comfortable enough as well. Overall, nothing really to complain about. Winner winner chicken dinner here.

This is a unique and helpful set of 3 four-sided files used for cleaning and restoring damaged threads on BOLTS and machine screws only (not for nuts). One of the files is for Metric threads the other two are for SAE threads. These work by filing cross-way (perpendicular) to the bolt. It helps to have some knowledge of thread size per inch when using these as each side of the file has threads per inch numbers stamped on them. Otherwise it takes a little time to find the right side of the file for the bolt threads you need to repair. These work much better and easier than using a single triangle file for filing one thread at a time. This set comes in a nice zippered labeled case and is very handy to have in a mechanic's workshop.

This is one of those items that makes you realize that you needed it all along but didn't know it since it makes life so much easier. I have a car that I have been working on that had crushed threads with one of the screws and it is not a screw that is common, it needed to be special ordered. I decided to try this as a last ditch effort to restore the threads before ordering another one and this worked flawlessly. They are very easy to use, just select your size, line up the threads and get to filing. The files themselves gripped into the metal very easy, I didn't need to be as careful as I thought as when the threads are in the track, it grips it in place and worked quickly. Overall I think these are a great addition to any toolbox and saves a lot of time.
