I wish I had known a long time ago that you could swap out wheels this easily. I changed the plastic wheels on my standard office chair with these Ticonn wheels and wow what a difference! These are rubber or rubberized so on my hardwood floor they run super smoothly, with ZERO noise, and they don't do any damage to the floor. There's no need for a protective chair mat on the floor with these wheels, and as a matter of fact these wheels are actually less than a protective chair mat anyway. The other advantage of these is how smoothly they roll and allow for the chair to move. There's a significant difference between these and the original plastic wheels. I bought another set of cheaper replacement wheels that were about $10 here on Amazon, but while they're better than the original chair wheels, they don't even come close to the quality of these Ticonn wheels. I'll get rid of the $10 ones I bought, and get another set of the Ticonns. Even though they were more expensive, the step up in quality is huge. Going forward, I'm going to replace the wheels on any new chair I purchase. The replacement in my case didn't require any tools, just put the chair on it's side, pull the old wheels out by hand and pop these in. Super simple, and again a significant improvement.

I have both a Herman Miller Aeron and a Haworth Zody. One of the things that always disappoint me in these higher end chairs are the casters. These aftermarket casters roll super smooth. And these double wheel style I feel help disperse the weight to help potentially prevent any damage to your floors. There is another style where the rotation (not the rolling direction but the spinning) has loose ball bearings. Whilst that version works, that will grind away at the metal, leaving a black powder residue everywhere. These Ticonn brand ones don't have that and I find that to be a huge pro when it comes to keeping my creative space clean. This is an EASY 5-star product and a 5-star price.I feel these are best for use on hard surfaces. The clearance for the shock / cylinder will be pretty tight (close to the ground). If you're using it on a plush surface, I recommend you go possibly go with a 3" wheel instead cause you may end up sinking into the carpet, and the cylinder will just scrape across the floor surface.

Good rollers. I’d buy the again if the need arose. Worked as expected. Good value for the money.

I do not often write reviews, but want to for this product because I am amazed at how much better my office chair now rolls! The plastic wheels the chair came with were lousy and scratched up the wood floor. It's a little late now as the floor is already scratched up, but at least it will not get any worse. But the best part is that it is now so smooth, easy, and quiet to move the chair around, while sitting in it or pushing it around. Also, as far as I can tell so far in terms quality, I do not see any reason why one should pay more than twice as much for these type wheels from the other makers listed here on Amazon. I bet the wheels themselves all come from the same factory in China so there is no reason to pay more.

These wheels are very quiet and glide great across all surfaces. Very good value. Would purchase again.

In researching for replacement wheel casters for my old desk chair it seemed that there was usually two ways most casters might wind up being a "fail" for the purchaser: 1) The bearings that the caster uses to allow the caster to swivel after a relatively short time would start "dropping" out of their "races" ending the caster's life, or 2) the softer urethane/"rubber" "tires" that cover the wheels wouldn't allow the casters to swivel easily so the user had difficulty changing the direction the chair was going in. Granted, these "fails" usually amounted to 1 to 2 percent of all the casters sold, but considering how long my old, hard plastic, cheap original casters lasted, I was really hoping to find some better made, smoother operating casters to replace them with that wouldn't fail so quickly as some buyers experienced. The bearing problem seemed to originate on casters that used cheaper, exposed "races" that you could readily see on the top of the caster. The races would fail because most of these casters were designed to have a rather large off-set between where the pivot pin of the caster was located and where the centerline of the caster's axles were. Since these two points aren't in alignment, any weight in the chair causes to caster to work like a "lever" between them. As the "weight's leverage" acts on the caster, the bearing's races get bent or the pivot pin wears down and allows the races to "open up" and the bearings fall out. You have to pay a lot more than what these caster cost to get this kind of design done well enough to avoid this problem. More than I wanted to pay. So I stopped looking at casters that use cheap exposed bearing races and only pivoted on the pin down in the caster itself. That left dealing with the "softer" caster issue of that very softness not allowing the caster to swivel easily. Granted, this problem really seemed to crop up on chairs used on carpet. My chair does roll on carpet, but it's a type of carpet that is made to be only about an 1/8" thick with self-stick backing made for use at a workbench/desk type area. It stays put on my garage's smooth cement floor. It does not move, and it isn't thick enough to cause rolling resistance. These Ticonn chair casters do have a polyurethane "tire" over a more traditional wheel center. This combination provides plenty of grip, either on cement or the work carpet I use, so that when you move the chair and change direction the wheels have no difficulty pivoting to the new direction. Needless to say, the polyurethane tire absorbs any bumps (were talking minor here) making for a very smooth, friction-free rolling-action every time. I think I've found a sweet-spot of smooth pivoting, smooth rolling caster action at a very reasonable cost. If they hold up for a while I may be replacing a number of casters in our household with these!
