I hate most bike bells and the way people use them. This one is nice pleasant and friendly; kind of like an ice cream truck. It’s easy to turn on when you need it and off when you don’t. It has a good ring that allows hikers to hear you coming a ways away. The bell is a bit heavy but its mass is what helps it produce a good ring. The bell’s well made and seems durable after a hard summer of use.I’d stick with the bolt on version as this bell is kind of pricey and wouldn’t want to lose it. Bolting it on also makes sure it’s in the right place so you can easily turn it off or on with your thumb. Installation is trivial and requires a single 3mm hex wrench. Some reviews said that they wished they could intentionally ring the bell. It’s easy to ring the bell if you just jiggle your handlebar on the side the bell is on. It works great.

This is a great bell, i can hear mountain bikes coming from a distance, while i ride my euc (electric unicycle) on bike paths and various different mountain bike trails.I hope Timber can make a bell especially for euc which would need to be much more sensitive to movement. the suspension on the lynx euc is so smooth, that even on bumpy offroad trails, most of the time the bell is not making any sound. i have tried every recommendation by timber, including adjusting the bell to different settings, as well as changing the angle of the bell, as it is mounted onto the euc handle grip area.i feel frustrated, even though i know this is a very good product for mountain bikes and any bicycles.i give this bell a best rating because it is good quality, and works great on bicycles.dest timber, please make a bell for electric unicycles. we need this!

Timber Bell is a very good, and very durable bell. It can be positioned in multiple ways, making customization easy. The On-Off feature is a great design element. The bell is quite loud, and it will alert other trail users 50-100 feet before I actually encounter them. And, it's a local SoCal company! Added bonus.

Great choice for any bicycle. I looks good and it has a nice quiet but audible sound. Able to completely turn off also.

Great product. Mounted on left side with bell facing upwards. Easy to slide on or off. Just the right amount of sound when you need it and none when you don't.

I had my doubts about this approach to the bicycle bell, but having tried this on one bike and a more traditional bell with a trigger, I much prefer this (for off-pavement use, anyway), and I suspect it’s more effective than a one-shot bell. I like the fact that you just “turn it on†and it does its thing. This works very well on the singletrack dirt trails I ride, which tend to have a decent amount of traffic and quite a few blind corners, and is also where you least want to sacrifice your grip to hit the trigger on a traditional bell (possibly multiple times). The very first day I used it, I did a short demo video afterward and posted it to my FB mountain bike group, and two people in the group commented that they had been on the trail as pedestrians and appreciated it because they could hear me coming. After this, I have bought a couple more to put on my other MTBs.The bummer is I often will have this thing jingling away as I approach other trail users but they have on headphones, or are talking loudly on their phones, or are so blissfully unaware of their surroundings that they don’t hear me coming anyway 🙄.Trade-offs1) Some users, or their crew (or even other trail users), may not appreciate the constant jingling if the bell is left on for extended periods. Since I have mine mounted near the stem that is the best choice for me, and again we have lots of blind corners so it makes sense to leave it on most of the time.2) When you are on smooth pavement you are likely going to have to pop your front wheel or whatever if you need it to ring out. This is not always practical, so I think this product is definitely geared toward dirt trail use.

Extremely handy when riding over bumpy terrain/off road. Lets others know where you are without being overwhelming. Pleasant sound. Volume can be muffled or turned off completely for quiet areas. Highly recommend for cycling near horseback riders as they will hear you coming and the horses are less likely to panic. Sometimes even the most relaxed horse can get spooked and this bell easily makes passing safer for everyone. Most people seem to appreciate the length of time they have to react, and I don’t have to continually ring the bell like a mad person to get their attention (unless they are wearing headphones, in which case nothing works and everyone can end up frustrated! Also, ugh! dogs on retractable leashes and unpredictable children, squirrels with death wishes, etc—no bell can magically make everything safe!)Also, my riding partner usually goes ahead of me and, when we aren’t talking, he likes knowing for sure I haven’t dropped back too far.Takes up very little room in my cockpit. I like the bell so much that I wish it worked on smooth paths, too. As it is, I find myself switching bells when I know I will be on pavement. Yes, you can generally shake your handlebars to make it ring, but that is awkward. Maybe they will come up with a version that has a manual ring option. Until then, this bell does what it’s supposed to do exceptionally well. Solid purchase!

Perfect amount of noise. The person who said it's not loud enough doesn't understand the intention of the product.Got a few comments and thank you's on my first ride with it on. Really satisfied with the build quality and noise level.

Damit hört man einen von weitem. Funktion ist top. Der Preis ist allerdings krass für etwas Metall und Plastik. Kostet in anderen Shops annähernd genauso viel. Ist wohl vom Hersteller vorgegeben. Hier kann man Amazon nichts vorwerfen. Die drei Sterne sind durch den Preis bedingt.

I had the older V4 (left in pictures) of the Timber Bell and they don't give guidance on Toque of course after getting a new bike did it up a little too tight and broke the plastic. This one is much chunkier (right in pictures) and feels like it can handle more abuse, the switch mechanism is much better, and the hinge to get it on the bars without scratching them is also great (and not stressing the plastic out) overall it's a bit larger than the older style but if the parts are modular as they claim this should last a long time.Really is vital to be noticed when out and about on single tracks and shared access ways. Most people don't mine being alerted but I've across many people and their dogs who get a bit grumpy. This does what it says on the tin and alerts others to your presence.
