Also required if you're using the older style wheel bearing without the built in stainless steel slinger and seal on the rear. My 2004 was still machined to accept the separate seal despite having come with the new bearing.

My 2003 Mazda doesnt have these seals but the online store recommended replacing so I bought them not wanting to hold up the job. If you have a 2003 Mazda Protege 5 you don't need these.
