Just the right size. Not too wide, not too long. So the weight is evenly distributed in a smaller area, not like you have a full blanket weighing 7 pounds. I bought a weighted pillow previously. It was too heavy, too much to move when I’m constantly popping in/out of my recliner. This lap pad is fantastic. The material is smooth and “petting†worthy :)

I sleep with a weighted blanket every night. However, I was “re-entering†the workplace after a very gnarly and hurtful situation. I wanted something to calm and ground me as I sat in office and was not as cumbersome as an entire weighted blankie. This is perfect. It sits right on my lap. No one knows what it’s for. The light weight of this is perfect in just helping me stay calm. I will put this over my shoulders some days, my lap others. On colder days, it does provide a bit of warmth. This is functional and is very helpful to me as I work in a very psychologically unsafe office. This weighted lap throw is the perfect size and weight (7lbs) to comfort my very nervous and panicky dog during fireworks and thunderstorms. I give her calming treats, cover her with this little throw, and gently rub her head to get her through the scary times. Since we started using this throw, I can tell it really helps to calm her. I highly recommend buying and using one if your dog has panic attacks for any reason.

I have a one and two-year-old and find these have helped with their sleeping through naps and the night. It's like a hug and I can breathe. I think they think it's me holding them because they will stir and settle down. Nothing else does that. I have no complaints.

The 7lb weight of this weighted lap blanket is perfect for me, a 26 year old woman. I also love the minky blanket material, the bumpy side feels so nice to touch! It also feels well made and sturdy.I do wish it was a bit longer to be able to put over my shoulders also, but if you have small shoulders or are a child it should work fine. (my own fault for not measuring)I'm very happy with this purchase overall.

I use weight to help with mt anxiety, but my neck issues leave me unable to lift the full size weighted blankets found at most stores. They wrap around my legs and just drag the floor and I can't get out from under them. This gives me the weight I need without the constriction of a full length blanket.
