Most needles have small eyes which creates too much friction between the fabric and thread, causing excessive thread breaks. This has a large eye and works well for a variety of thread weights, variety of fabric density, and works well for cotton and polyester thread.Great for embroidery and for standard sewing. I would suggest a smaller needle if you are sewing satin, silk, or other fragile fabric.

What can I say, but that Schmetz needles are fantastic. Made well and last a long time.

Sewing a quilt no problems even use some specialty threads for topstitching on some hearts with rayon and polyester embroidery threads and it work really good no skips stitches no bunching underneath the material.
