Real Time Alerts – 95% Accuracy

Current technology can tell you that there’s a twister in the vicinity. However, rapid changes in the tornado’s position are not reported in real time. Moving at 60 mph, that tornado may now be 20 miles closer to you and your family – giving you less time to respond. Current warnings are only 25% accurate so many people ignore them. But now with tornadoAlert you can have a severe weather alarm in your own home that accurately identifies when a tornado is coming towards you. In real time.

Accurate Round the Clock Protection

But unlike current warning devices, tornadoAlert is independent of radio, television, cellular or power transmission systems during severe weather. It detects storm activity right from your own home, and if there is a power outage it continues to protect you on battery backup for almost 24 hours.

This device works as advertised. It senses the electrical energy generated by thunderstorms and tornadoes and displays alarm with sound and strobe. This is independent of weather radios, the newsmedia, and the US Weather Bureau, making it an on the spot, real time, alert sensor of great value for the user. I highly recommend this product.

I have 2 of these in two different homes. I decided to get one after experiencing a tornado event at 5am. At the time I had a weather radio and it was on but never alerted. My towns sirens only went off after the tornado had hit a few homes. I lost my balcony and my neighbor lost her roof. It was a very weak tornado but caused lots of damage. I lost confidence in the National Weather Service to alert me and the warning sirens. This device has alerted me several times to sever weather, tornado risks, and tornado. Each time it has been minutes ahead of the National Weather Service. It has allow me the time to take shelter long before sirens go off. I am not sure exactly how this thing works all I can say is it does. I have used it in Iowa, Illinois, and Texas. It really does work and is one of the best things you can spend your money one.One thing I will say is if the wiring in your house is not grounded right or if some other device in your home interferes it will indicate "noise". If your seeing that it will not work in your home. If you find a spot by the window to place it and setups correctly on start up you should have no problem.

Today we had severe weather come through, and it worked perfectly. The weather midland radio went off earlier in the day, alerting us to a severe weather watch being issued in our country. So I started to watch the radar, and at about the same time, I saw a small storm developed about 40 miles away; the bars on the tornado alert started to rise. The tornado alert sounded an alarm of a severe storm, I checked the radar on my phone, and the storm had developed into a cell showing pink in the center. Shortly after, the midland went off, alerting of a severe storm. About 10-15 minutes later tornado alert went off alerting of a tornado; about 10 minutes later, the Midland radio went off, saying there was a tornado spotted about 7 miles north of us. So, after today I can personally tell you that this device works and will give you an alert far before a weather radio alone would.

The accuracy has been amazing so far. I got this device after normal tornado season was over; however, i did get to see it perform on some thunderstorms. Its great at waking you up as long as its in the same room with you. My only strike against it is the alarm is not as loud as i had hoped. From 2 rooms away it sounds the same as the clothes washer or the crock pot alarm. It does have a jack for connection to a louder alarm or buzzer so i may check into that. I am a ham radio operator so having this device is great in many ways. I first had it next to my transceivers and it did ok as long as i did not unhook my antennas before a storm moving in. When i did unhook my ham antennas, the noise from the antenna connectors would make the tornado device go into noise mode. I moved the device about 7 ft away from the ham radio equipment near the other window and so far no issues. Its a device every home should have if you have severe thunderstorms and or tornados.

I wasn't sure this would work, but for less than 100 then it was worth to try. The setup seems like a lost cause if you're in stormy weather already (and you wanted to relocate it to another room). Just leave it plugged in and it'll complete the setup overnight when the house is quiet. It goes off for severe weather (rainy thunderstorms), lightning storm, tornado warning, and tornado activity (actual twister within 30 miles). All confirmed!Suggested improvement: the LCD lights up when starting, but it should light up when a button is pressed to quiet an alarm (mine doesn't) and you've no idea what you're doing as you navigate prompts in the dark.

This is is amazing in how it can detect storms without external input. However it's usefulness is limited. It always seems to exaggerate every storm. Sometimes there will be severe storms 50 miles away but it's beeping and saying there's a severe storm and won't shut up for hours. Other times it insists there is a tornado but the nearest thing is a severe warned storm 50 or more miles away that is only packing 1 inch hail and 50 MPH winds. However it can be useful when it says there is "noise" and it's been clear blue sky all day. I'll then check and the radar and sure enough something is moving in.Occasionally it has preempted my emergency radio for a severe thunderstorm by 10-20 minutes. However once again this is not very useful. Sure there's a storm in the area but it is not going to affect my watching TV or reading a book. This thing has woken me up quite a few times. Most times I just power it off since I just want some dang sleep and a tiny storm that is flanking the metroplex doesn't really concern me.Be sure to silence the alarm otherwise you'll be woken up in morning due to a "severe storm" but most of the time it's just a regular storm somewhere in the vicinity but no where near you and moving in the opposite direction.

UPDATE: we were having a storm so plugged in yesterday to give the product another chance and it didn’t power on.This product alarms like there is a tornado for small storms that are very far away. This product wears you out so much that you will turn off the alarm and will finally unplug it. The one time my phone did alert me to a possible tornado nearby, the screen did say "Tornado!" but I heard no sound because I had turned it off. I realized then that my phone was enough to alert me. I haven't brought myself to throw this away yet.
