Bright red trailer hitch lock looks good from a far. But is it far from good? Says it's made of steel and quality aluminum, and I like the steel part, but I'm not sure which part is aluminum and how secure that really is. I tried it on a couple of different trailers with 1 7/8" and 2" ball hookups and this lock fits by opening it up and sliding it into place and closing it down before locking it with the key. The key itself is small and the teeth seem fairly basic, and I think the lock can be picked quickly by someone with experience.So, from far, the bright red metal lock looks secure. But when you get close, I think if a thief wanted to break or pick the lock, they could get past it pretty easily. I'll rate it a 4 star for it's looks and probably just a 3 star for it's actual security. Someone who wants to get your trailer probably can without too much difficulty.

This is a great trailer lock. It's different from other locks because it covers the whole nose of the trailer, and it cannot be cut off. This makes it almost impossible for thieves to steal your trailer (and whatever is on your trailer). It comes with two keys. Because of a "post" that goes up into the hitch (ball) of the trailer, it cannot be removed without the key.

This lock is very well-made and sturdy, it's nice that it fits completely over the ball so that it can not be cut off.

The listing claims that this works on couplers up to 2 5/16". It might work for some trailer couplers, but it doesn't fit the coupler of my Rockwood GeoPro. My boat has 2" coupler and it fits on there as expected. Overall, if it fits your coupler, it is more secure than using a padlock through the safety pin hole on the coupler's lever. Padlocks can be cut or forced. This heavy cast steel housing covers the top and bottom of the hitch coupler and easily prevents a drive away theft.If it fits your coupler, add one more star.
