TL;DR: Excellent mittens for casual wear. Good for running in cold conditions, but people who suffer from really cold hands might want something a bit bulkier for sub-freezing running. This is my second pair of TrailHeads mittens. I originally purchased the heavier ones with the zipper, and they're amazing, but I wanted a lighter pair for wearing casually while walking a few blocks at a time in cold conditions. These mittens are slim and warm, and they flip back easily and sit neatly in place. The thumb holes are a little clunky but they do the job.Although I purchased these for casual wear, I have worn them on a run in slightly below freezing conditions. I personally struggle with really, really cold hands and my fingers were a little bit chilly for the first part of my run in these (but warmed up really well afterwards).

I was pleasantly surprised with how warm these convertible mittens are. I’ve run with them in temps above and below freezing. When it’s warmer, my hands often overheat so I actually have to take them off. When it’s colder, I usually end up gradually removing the flaps to help regulate my body temp. The main reason I’m writing this review then, is to appeal directly to the company. Please make these in an x-small/small size. My hands circumference is approximately 7in, yet I found the small/medium to fit large. Since the average hand circumference for women is 7in, it’s unfortunate that these run big and there’s no option for a smaller size. There are other brands that offer a broader range of sizes, so I’m not sure why Trailheads doesn’t.I find it equally disappointing that there’s no reflective details on the gloves and they don’t come with some kind of attachment. They’re basically just expensive flaps of partially recycled plastic that cover your hands. That’s not to say I don’t like these mittens; I actually really do. Especially since that I haven't yet found anything better. But given the target demographic and high price point, there really should be have been more consideration into the sizing and features.

My new mittens have been a game changer for outdoor walking, running and snow shoeing this winter season. Its a quick flip so that I can check my phone, tie my shoelaces and adjust my music selection! Love the design and the softness of the fabric. I appreciatate the attention to detail and high quality material.Had to buy a pair for a friend when she borrowed them from me and said she loved them. Nice work Trailheads! Quick delivery too

Can't believe this design isn't more common. I wear these all the time for running, commuting, and carrying cold beverages. My only wish is that they came in more colors.

I love Trailheads gear. This is the third pair of mittens I've purchased from this company. I bought these because they're true mittens and keep my fingers warm because they're not separated.

These are just okay. For the money, I think I should have bought something else. First, they are too big. I used the size guide and measured my hand. I bought smalls based on that (I normally wear medium gloves). These are HUGE on my hands. The good news about them being big is that I can fit gloves under them for added warmth... which I need because they don't keep my hands warm enough. The most frustrating part for me, though, is that on the fourth run I wore them on I noticed a thread. The stitching on one of the cuffs has come completely undone. Again, I should have spent my money on something else (or bought cheaper mittens because they probably would have been just as good as these ones).Would not buy again.

I thought the fabric was weak, floppy, and would get wet and stay wet. They wouldn’t work for someone running outside except to wipe your snot onto the back of them because they seem they would wash up well and dry quickly. I gave it three stars because I didn’t try them and maybe someone prefers thin, floppy gloves.

J'adore mes nouvelles mitaines.

Super bummed about these. They are warm, comfy, and not too bulky. But I’ve had them for just a few weeks and the stitching is already coming undone. These won’t last long and are absolutely not worth buying.
