I got this garbage strap because I live in an area where the garbage truck does not take your trash unless it’s in a large bag. Without fail, some passerby drops small pieces of trash in my can.The trash can lock strap is a great way to keep your lid securely closed, and act as a deterrent stopping lazy people from casually placing trash in my can. It's adjustable, so you can get the perfect fit. I chose to strap it from the back metal bar to the front, but I had to adjust it to the longest setting and nearly couldn’t reach the other bar. It would be better if the strap were a bit longer. However, once in place, it has been effective at deterring passersby from using the trash can, and the locking mechanism has worked flawlessly so far, keeping everything secure. Overall, it’s a solid and practical solution!

I've been using this strap for a month, and it has become a must-have. I wasn't sure based on the description whether or not the band was flexible, but it is. I put one clasp near the handles of my barrel, then I stretch the other to the opposite side. It's easy to adjust. Once you have it calibrated for your barrel, you won't have to change it again. It does a great job at keeping the lid tightly closed, which is a big deal where I live because we have pretty fierce winds from time to time and I don't want critters scattering my trash all over the yard. The metal clasps seem to be galvanized iron, so they'll hold up for a lifetime, and their shape would probably allow them to work for almost any type of garbage can. It's a really simple product but it has been so useful that I think it's worthy of 5 stars.

I was surprised at how easy this was to put on, given my lack of grip strength I was concerned. I'm not so sure this would be bear proof, as a determined bear would be able to easily pull it to the side, dislodging it completely. That's super easy compared to opening vehicle doors, which they often do. I wish this had some sort of loop or hook to attach it to the handle so when it's taken off (generally by the garbage guys) it won't get lost in the garbage truck or the rocks and dirt. It's not super expensive, but replacing them once a month or more often would get prohibitive. This does work well to keep the wind from opening the can then knocking over the can and taking it down the street. Think I'll still keep tying it to the post I do because the winds can still knock a can over and shove it down the hill when they get really going, but this lid strap will help. I should also help keep raccoons out of the garbage, but I've never had a problem with them before even though they do live around here. Bears and wind are the big problem here.Edit: Confirmed. When the garbage guys take these off to check if there's anything in the can to take, they do not put it back on. My strap is now missing in snow and high winds because I hadn't figured a way to "permanently" attach it yet. Be prepared to have to buy a new one every week, and at these prices ($15/strap) it's really expensive to have to buy that often. Check with your garbage company to see if you can truly permanently attach something, because that would be better. Most companies don't allow it if the cans belong to them. If you can't, I strongly urge figuring a way to attach these straps to the handle via some other kind of strap or tie or something so the garbage guys don't lose it for you.

I had to modify the Wuno Shop Trash Can Lid Locks for Animals To get it to work with my trash can. The bar on my containers has a larger diameter than the hooks on the lid lock. I added an additional hook that I obtained at the hardware store. These are very well made and sturdy. They are easy to use and quite affective at keeping the “critters†out of my refuse. The straps are adjustable and keep the lid on tight! Great product!

This product is a must have at our house. We had only lived in our house a week when we realized how bad the raccoons are. We were waking up every morning to our trash bin contents strewn all over the ground and bags inside ripped open. Thankfully this product has stopped that headache. The strap is adjustable and can be tightened to the exact length you need to keep the trash bin lid closed tightly. The metal clips are sturdy and high quality. It works just as described and has kept the critters out of our trash bin!

very strong trash can lid strap. it was super easy to secure the lid. it's a quality piece and i can't speak to being bear-proof, but definitely my friendly local raccoons will be locked out for good. I have to get another one now. i recommend this trash can lid strap, seems to be built for endurance.
