The Smart Transformer Solution for Medical Facilities

All isolation transformers must conform to the UL 60601-1 standard when used within medical patient care areas. Get complete, compliant protection for all sensitive devices in the patient care area and prevent power disruption with Tripp Lite’s Isolator IS500HG Power Conditioner. Featuring an internal isolation transformer with a Faraday Shield, the IS500HG completely isolates equipment from line noise that can cause incremental, but devastating, equipment damage. Its 510-joule surge suppression rating protects equipment from surges and spikes caused by utility power disruptions and the operation of nearby equipment on the same circuit. With 100% isolation from the input AC line, the IS500HG eliminates leakage and shock potential down to less than 100μA. The IS500HG’s 10-ft. power cord allows for flexibility when installing, while the built-in circuit breaker prevents dangerous circuit overloads. 500 watts of capacity allow for use with a variety of sensitive monitoring, diagnostic, and computer equipment. The widely spaced hospital-grade output receptacles fit any standard input plug and the power switch offers convenient, one-touch power control. For peace of mind, the IS500HG features a rugged, all-metal housing and comes with a two-year warranty.

IS500HG Feature Focus IS500HG Hospital Grade Plug
Approved for Use in Patient Care Areas

UL 60601-1 compliance is required for isolation transformers within patient care areas in order to avoid hazardous conditions and provide an optimally safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. By isolating equipment from unpredictable and disruptive utility power, the IS500HG eliminates the need for dedicated circuits or costly upgrades to a healthcare facility’s electrical system. The internal isolation transformer with Faraday Shielding provides 100% isolation from the AC power line for equipment plugged into the IS500HG and reduces leakage to less than 100μA for full UL 60601-1 compliance. The IS500HG is perfect for protecting sensitive medical equipment that can be affected by EMI/RFI line noise, utility switching transients, background spikes, and other unpredictable power conditions.

High-Capacity with Robust Features

The IS500HG’s 1000-watt capacity can handle a variety of electronic medical devices, while features like a 510-joule surge suppression rating, integrated circuit breaker, and powerful line noise filtering provide ultimate protection and safety in even the most hazardous conditions. With continuous transformer filtering and no wearable parts, the IS500HG reduces surges in the worst power environments to harmless levels.

Convenient, User-Friendly Operation

A 10-ft. cord allows for flexible installation, while 4 hospital-grade NEMA 5-15R-HG output receptacles let you plug standard equipment into the IS500HG without any adapters or custom power cords. Operation is easy; simply plug the IS500HG into a grounded three-prong utility outlet, plug your equipment into the IS500HG, and turn the power on with simple, one-touch lighted power switch.

2-Year Warranty and Environmentally Responsible Design

The IS500HG is backed by a 2-year warranty. As part of Tripp Lite’s commitment to environmental responsibility, it is manufactured in compliance with strict RoHS specifications.

I have a pretty high end stereo system and it was recommended that I get this particular model to eliminate any type of power issues that might affect the DAC and amplifier in particular. In addition, a power surge blew 5 capacitors in my preamp and I wanted to make sure that did not happen again. This unit is a very solid piece of hardware is on 24/7. Unlike some reviews, my unit runs cool and dead quiet. After plugging the streamer, DAC and amplifier into it, I noticed an immediate improvement in the sound quality of well-recorded digital music streamed from my NAS. In my unscientific opinion, there was more presence of instruments and a more palpable black background, sort of like spaces between the people playing the instruments on a stage. Admittedly, this improvement in sound did not "blow me away" and sound like a completely new system, as some claim when they buy new gear, but there was an audible improvement. For $280, plus the piece of mind that my valuable equipment is now protected from power surges, this was a great purchase. Highly recommended.Note that the style has apparently been changed (at least on the one that I just got) and the unit no longer has a lighted power switch, but instead has the same power switch as the IS1000HG

Did not remove any noise from the AC line. Not recommended for audio or video systems.

I am a guitarist with a mixing studio in my rented home. This old house is beautiful, but the power is so noisy that it was impossible to play my guitar amps because of buzzing. I tried every power conditioner and shielded every guitar, but nothing worked. This isolation transformer was my last hope, and it works great! Also, mine is whisper quiet (unlike some other customers, I have had no noise issues). It saved my mixing business, and I love it.

It has no affect on the noise on my electrical line.

Yehhh... I’m not real sure if the other reviewers aren't listening or are just hard of hearing, but this thing is about like having a minifridge w the compressor going at all times. DO NOT PUT THIS in a room youll be recording audio or mixing in. Its basically a ground hum in your airspace. I mean its a transformer, whadaya expect? Too bad the silent ones are like 3K$. I’ll just work it into the power supply circuit somewhere outside my studio, in another room. This totally does what its supposed to, but REALLY DOES make some serious noise. Ya get what ya pay for after all.

I use this as part of a hifi set up, and like some others, am disappointed with the amount of noise this unit makes.

The version I got didn't have a lighted switch or a separate circuit reset button. Instead, the switch contains the reset. When it trips, just turn it off and back on. I had to rewire to get a true ground isolated output, but I expected that when I bought it. This is heavy and well built. Works as expected.

This item description is misleading and inaccurate: this unit will NOT protect your devices unless it is behind a surge protector. I spoke with Tripplite to confirm this on two separate occasions.Anyone relying on this to protect their equipment will be in for a shock when it gets fried along with all their expensive electronics, and then finds out there is no warranty because this is not a surge protection device.Even worse would be if a hospital or in-home patient hooked up medical devices to this such as a oxygen machine expecting it to be protected from abnormal power fluctuations.I have reached out to Amazon about this and they have yet to take any action. Seeing as how this is intended to be used in a clinic or hospital setting it is beyond pale that they have done nothing after being informed about it.

Great product - I use it for guitar amps etc. Cleans up the in coming power, for a much cleaner sound isolated from household dimmer and electric motor degradation of the AC power.
