I recently purchased this trumpet to use for practice and for outdoor use. I have been playing the trumpet for 36 years, and I currently play in two local groups with a number of outdoor concerts and practices during the spring and summer and wanted a trumpet to use in those situations where I would not have to use my "professional" trumpet.I have to say, I am extremely impressed with the Herche Superior M1! Having now had the opportunity to use this several times in performances and during practice, I could not be more pleased, and I do not believe you can find better value for the money than this trumpet. The valves are of a high quality, much better than you will find any other trumpets in this price range, they are smooth and responsive even at first use, and I expect them to only get smoother with continued use. The sound is full and has a nice, mellow tone which also speaks to the quality of the instrument and the materials used. While there are differing opinions on a rose-brass leadpipe, I find that the sound is not diminished at all and it gives the trumpet a nice look with the contrast. The trumpet overall has a nice weight to it, it does not feel cheap or flimsy at all, which again speaks to the quality of craftsmanship. There is no third-value slide stop, but that is the norm for trumpets in this price range. If I was really going to be overly critical I would say that one thing is the springs on the water keys are not as heavy as I would prefer. They work great with no problems now, I wonder if they will loosen over time. Again though, this is if I were being overly critical. In my opinion, this trumpet is as high a quality instrument as others that cost at least 3x-4x as much.Made in the US is another appealing factor, this is not an import with a US name slapped on it. This company supports local musicians, especially student musicians, they clearly do a lot of work in that area to make playing affordable for kids starting out, while providing high quality products. I highly recommend Herche for all trumpet players just starting out, and for experienced players looking for an affordable, high quality second or third trumpet!!

Bought this for my 13 year old son who is in band. The school trumpet is old, valves stick and slide doesn’t work. 1000% improvement. He loves it. Seems to be made well, good sound. Guess time will tell, but so far great value.

After you get the mouth, and lip, placement down you'll need to keep practicing because there are many different notes that have the same fingering. You'll have to twist your lips and breathing to get the right sound. Practice, practice, practice...

It’s better than what I thought. I’ve been playing trumpet for 35 years now. The days of the actual student trumpet have changed. I would say this is definitely an intermediate trumpet. I got this trumpet for my daughter who just now starting to learn how to play.

It has better valves than the cheaper trumpets.
