This trumpet valve guard XL is aimed at providing even more protection to the important parts of your trumpet. Unlike the regular valve guards, this one has additional petals to prevent the damage to the lead pipe, when you hold the trumpet with your left hand. Therefore, with this larger model, you can protect the valves, lead pipe, bell pipe, and 3rd valve slide finishes all together and not worry about the negative impact from sweat or rubbing. The inner side of the valve protector XL is made of mild material that absorbs moisture and doesn’t leave scratches on finishes.
As for the finishes, this valve guard is suitable for all types. However, when using it with the raw brass and silver, we recommend removing the accessory after each practice session to let it dry from absorbed moisture and prevent the oxidation of the finish. The valve guard can serve for 5-10 years depending on how often you use it. When the leather looks worn out, you need to replace the old valve protector with the new one to provide the instrument with the further protection.
Although genuine leather is appealing itself, you can make the accessory more customized by ordering additional decoration with embossed initials, names or full names (up to 20 English symbols). This is a quality leather valve guard that also protects the first and third valve slides from outer wear. Unlike some other valve guards that also protect the slides, it is not bulky or cumbersome. The leather has a good feel and also conforms around the slides as you go through the break in process. If you are a player who needs protection on your horn from sweat and acids that your left hand creates, this product will work well. The quality of the product is first rate and it is very easy to install on the instrument. I recommend.

I've ordered the valve guard and a mouth piece pouch.Valve Guard:It improves the grip on your horn slightly which I like. The little flaps protecting the 1st and 3rd valve feel strange at first but they don't get in the way of using your slides. The dark brown is slightly darker than the picture, which I really like, good for a classic look. Stitching, material, and Velcro all seem top notch. Will probably buy another.The Mouthpiece Pouch:Very well made, inner lining protect the mouthpiece from any metal parts. These costs a little more than other solutions, but this definitely has a premium feel and construction. Would recommend.

Very impressed with this leather mouthpiece pouch. I like that it is not bulky and doesn't take up a ton of space while still protecting the mouthpiece. Has a easy to use but sturdy closure and the loop in the back is an excellent bonus. The leather looks to be excellent quality as well. Great item!

The leather appears to be of good quality. The grip is comfortable and it looks very durable. The velcro tabs make it very easy to attach and the fit is good. It seems to protect most of the valve casing except for a spot on the third valve where my middle finger wraps around the valves, which is already worn (see 1st photo). I had to bend the first valve thumb trigger a little to allow the 1st tuning slide to close completely. It nearly touches the 1st valve casing and the slide doesn't close with the added thickness of the leather guard (see 2nd photo).

I have been a big advocate of valve guards for years. I have always encouraged all of my students to invest in one. I have had several different models of trumpet guards over the years, but the minute I replaced my black valve guard with the the dark blue MG Leather valve guard, I was like "that looks sharp!" I have tourquoise valve buttons and the dark blue looks really sharp with my valve buttons. The leather is very soft and more comfortable than my last two valve guards I have purchased. One of the really nice features missing in my former valve guard was the extra flanges over the first and third valves. I like this because it keeps more of the oils from my hands being transferred to the finish of the horn. They do not get in the way from my use of using my valve saddles to adjust for intonation. The color options are great as well! If I had not had the turquoise valve buttons I would have been interested in several of the other color options. I would have easily picked the marsala, green, blue or light brown options. I will definitely be recommending this valve guard to all of my students in the future!

Well it’s advertised for trumpet so it’s my bad for trying it on my Getzen cornet, and Puje. Nope doesn’t fit those 2. My trumpets it’s a great fit and quality crafted.
