I got this truncheon meter to monitor my deep water culture hydroponic system's water/nutrient supply. Draining and refilling the system constantly wasn't practical or cost efficient, and topping off while watching for visual indicators of any nutrient buildup or deficiency was contingent largely on luck, and worked until it didn't... I knew I had to eliminate as much of the guesswork as possible, and ensure my plants were receiving the optimal amount of nutrient for each stage of growth. This meter was a lifesaver. So easy to use, just power on and select the mode of measurement to be displayed, insert the probe into the solution, and the probes measure electric conductivity determined by nutrient saturation, which are displayed by using an illuminated LED on the body of the meter, and more precisely on the LCD display in the chosen mode. Rinse when done to prevent any buildup from affecting accuracy. A calibration solution and extra o-ring seals were also included, though the meter does come already calibrated and ready to use. Before using, I tested the meter in distilled water, and it showed a "zero" reading. I mixed a solution according to instructions for early vegetative growth, and obtained a second reading, with showed 500 ppm, which was exactly what I wanted. This is so helpful when adding and adjusting nutrient, and in catching any deviation before it has affected the plants. It also measures temperature, which is also helpful as it can affect both the EC reading and plant health. I still periodically empty the system, but I haven't had to deal with any sudden, unexpected emergencies caused by nutrient problems. Very pleased with this truncheon meter. I'm getting better results with my plants and now have somw peace of mind. Great product.

The Truncheon EC PPM Nutrient Meter is a game changer for any hydroponic grower. Its multi-functionality as both a stirrer and a precise nutrient measuring tool makes it a standout performer. The ability to toggle between different measurement scales (EC, PPM, CF, Temp) makes it versatile and adaptable to different grower needs. Its long stick design is also a plus, allowing easy mixing of AB hydroponic nutrients while simultaneously measuring conductivity levels. The digital display is a nice touch too, providing easy-to-read results. Despite its many benefits, there's a slight learning curve to fully unlock its potential. Nonetheless, it's a solid 4-star product, greatly enhancing the efficiency of nutrient film technique hydroponic systems.

If you have a hydroponic setup, you need to monitor the water you are using for ph and nutrient concentration. This meter will do both operations and also give you the water temperature. There are several scales to measure TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) supported, including EC (Electrical Conductivity), ppm500 ppm, ppm 700 and CF (Conductivity Factor). No matter how you are tracking nutrient concentration, this meter covers it.You will no longer have to 'check and add' multiple times with this meter, you can use it to stir in nutrients and read out nutrient concentration and ph at the same time. The meter is designed for a large hydroponic operation, but can be used for any of the popular home hydroponic systems. I used this meter for monitoring my Lettuce Grow Farmstand - it reaches into the reservoir quite nicely! The meter assembles from two pieces and you have to be very careful while doing the assembly as there are many pins inside the connection that have to mate up. Fortunately, the assembly has a keyway, so you can't get it misaligned. The connection point has an o-ring seal, so it is water tight. There's a battery compartment at the top of the unit that also has an o-ring seal. The meter comes with a liquid calibration standard, but it is already calibrated at the factory and ready to get when you start using it. If you plan to use the calibration standard, you should ensure the business end of the meter is very clean, otherwise you'll contaminate the standard. The instructions that came with the meter were very clear and easy to follow.I'm happy with this meter, it is going to save a lot of back and forth that I had to do with the previous ph and EC measurements.

I've been using this YINMIK Truncheon EC PPM Nutrient Meter for a few weeks now, and I must say it's become an indispensable tool in my hydroponic setup. The sturdy construction gives me confidence that it'll withstand the occasional bump or splash, which is crucial in a busy growing environment. One of the standout features is the versatility in measurement options. With EC, PPM 500, PPM 700, CF, and temperature readings all in one device, I no longer need multiple meters cluttering my workspace. The large, easy-to-read display is a godsend, especially when I'm checking nutrient levels at odd hours in my greenhouse.I used to use liquid pH testing and go back and forth titrating, then other meters for other parameters, but this dude has it all, large so I'm less likely to misplace it and actually fun to use. While it may not have the brand recognition of some higher-end meters, I've found the accuracy to be more than sufficient for my needs. The auto-calibration feature is a nice touch, saving me time and hassle. However, if you're looking for laboratory-grade precision, you might want to consider more expensive options. For me, though, this YINMIK meter strikes the perfect balance between functionality and value.

This was not as easy to use and read. It's much larger than other similar products.

I think this is a good meter, but for me it is a bit bulky to use in small spaces. It seems to work well, but loner term testing will be required, especially on my hydroponics system where I know exactly the concentration of the fertilizer in the water. I wish it were a little smaller and easier to use in tighter spaces. Not a biggie, and I do recommend.

Does a fine job, just a bit large for smaller garden use.
