Great tool for homeowner with any kind of garden. Combine hoe and axe to speed turning up soil and also dealing with roots, etc. Especially like the lighter weight vs other models. Looks very durable and well made.

This is a hard to find item, 2 1/2 Lb. not 5 Lb. This is super nice and very well made. Love the handle. Such nice quality, very pleased. Perfect for working in the flower and shrubbery beds and vegetable garden. As a woman, the 5 Lb. mattock is just too heavy!

Just what I needed for my small garden to dig up some stubborn plants that I couldn't get out with pulling by hand or a hoe or garden fork.Well made and should last me as long as I need one.

Nothing like a mattock for turning the soil in a garden. This is a heavier tool; I ordered a lighter mattock for my wife.

This mattock obviously needed sharpening to do any serious cutting, so I used a grinder to bring both ends to a knife edge. When I began to use it, I kept hitting the outside of the arc of the mattock, so I used an arbor press to flatten the arc. Now one strikes the edge satisfactorily. As another reviewer noted, it appears to have a cast head. However, it must be good quality cast steel, since it holds an edge nicely. With the two changes made, it is a fine tool.Also, it is labeled Collins Axe, Made in Mexico. Apparently the Estwing name used on the site is just for marketing.

This adze has made my life simpler. I have a corner of my yard that has been taken over by a type of cane. They are difficult to eradicate. However, with this tool, I can chop and hoe the cane out.
