the items do what they do. If one removes the main lid covering to measure, these safety lids will help prevent some accidental fall in. obviously, if a very small animal fell in, it might still go through the opening, so keep the ankle biters and perhaps cats away, just in case! Do expect the septic clean out folks to want to remove this safety lid when they do their job. the hole in the lid is going to be smaller than they want to work within.

Hey, just buy this, you will be happy you did safeguarding your riser and anyone that may fall through the opening by accident.
