This is a nice, inexpensive thermocouple adapter to allow mV DC testing of thermocouples. Of course, you can often just remove the thermocouple and test it with your multimeter and a lighter or torch, but this inline adapter allows you to actually test the thermocouple while it is in use while connected to the gas valve in the equipment. The test terminal on it that look like a screw is isolated from the outer jacket and provides the external test point.

Try as I wanted to make this adapter work, at least on the OEM thermocouple male screw that came with my water heater, plus a "test" thermocouple ordered to check to see the output of an additional thermocouple, this adapter WILL NOT FIT either thermocouple male thread: The female thread on the adapter is simply too short to allow connecting, just as the many 1-star ratings had reported. Bummer. Returned for refund.

Was super excited about getting this product, installed it as per video and it did not work as advertised, couldn’t get any type of readings what so ever. Will not buy this product again

This adapter works well for sorting out thermocouple problems on gas valves.

Does what it is supposed to do by allowing in-circuit voltage measurement of the thermocouple (which should be around half the open circuit) voltage and allows you to measure the voltage at which the pilot solenoid on the gas valve releases.

This is used to test thermocouple milivoltage (in line) while troubleshooting a gas fired appliance.Excellent product.
