Under normal conditions the volmeter will indicate between 13 to 15 bolts while the car is being operated at usual road speeds. If the gauge reads higher than 15 volts, it indicates that the charging system's voltage regulator is not operating properly and it can result in damage to the battery and accessories. A continuous reading of less than 13 volts indicates that the charging system is not operating properly and will eventually result in a discharging battery.
If the voltmeter reads too high or too low at normal operating conditions, the battery, the starting system,and the charging system should be throughly tested and serviced as necessary.

I bought a cheap voltmeter, so that is what I was expecting. I was pleasantly surprised to receive such a good looking gauge. Installed easily in my application, and works accurately as verified with an electrician's voltmeter.Update: 10 months old and the backlight has begun to blink on and off. Gauge is still reading accurately but the blinking will likely cause me to replace it.

Basic volt-meter. Does what it is designed to do. Install is easy. Don't use the backlight so no opinion. Perfect for my equipment needs.

On 01/29/2024, This was in installed in my 71’ VW Super beetle. Went in easy. Tested it, my bug was at 14v. Which I confirmed with my own voltage meter 14v. Nice and bright when the light is on. More brighter than my VDO tachometer. The real issue is the extra thin red & black wires to connect the light. You just have to be patient & very cautious. We will see how good the longevity is /how long it lasts. 🤞But very pleased and you can’t beat the price.12/15/2024, Update this gauge is still working good. But when it’s humid the display get boogie and not very clear.

I needed a voltage gauge on my boat to monitor the batteries while fishing. I had looked at digital gauges and because of the bright sun light they seemed like a poor option. This gauge is easy to read at a glance. If you want exact voltages this is not the product, it reads about a half volt low. Once you know where normal is that's all you need to know.

Looks good, is accurate compared to a VOM meter,and the needle is well damped so it does not bounce around in my rough rideing CJ-5 jeep. The drawback are the short and tiny wires used for the illumination. Dash boards have 16 gauge wires, and there is now way to hook the tiny wires to 16 gauge without being mickey mouse. I extended the wires in the garage by soldering a length of 16 gauge to the small wires and covering the joint with shrink tubing. You don't know how to solder and shrink wrap? Too bad. The screw terminals used for voltage input and ground were very good, too bad they didn't use them for illumination
