I have a rental house where four people share utilities. Recently fights have broken out over the heating bill. Three out of four tenants want the temperature on the thermostat set at 66F but one lady waits till everyone is asleep and turns it up to 80F! As she has recently moved in, their bill has gone up almost a hundred dollars a month to heat the house. At the request of the three tenants, I installed this thermostat lock box and set the temperature to their requested sixty six degrees. Sixteen dollars was a small price to pay to prevent a possible physical confrontation.By the way, she has been seen trying to change the setting using a paperclip but without success.

The thermostats at home don't fit, and the plastic is of poor quality

I can't really correctly rate this item yet, because I haven't had time to install it yet. But, I will say this, I like the fact that the packaging includes some double side sticky tape that will allow you to put the item in place, level and hold it there until you can get the screw holes drilled accurately. That's a great bonus feature.I can't speak about the durability of this, but all of the ones I looked at are made of plastic, and obviously the intent is only a deterrent to keep unauthorized individuals from messing with your thermostat.
