It works well. I had to bend it slightly so it didn't rub on the inside of the bowl. It feels very solid. Good purchase for the price!

I installed this handle on a vintage 1950’s toilet manufactured by Crane. It was interesting to see how this modern “universal†handle would work with a 70 year old toilet, because nothing on the old toilet seems standard. Why did it need a new handle? The old/original one was completely metal and quite heavy, including the handle itself, and also the neck of the handle lever (the piece that extends through the hole in the tank). While that neck piece and its nut were all metal, it was made of some sort of rustproof metal, gray in color. Possibly lead (it was heavy), or some sort of galvanized metal. While that neck piece had no rust on it, it did apparently accumulate some corrosion inside that neck piece, which was causing this problem: Occasionally, when the handle was pressed to flush, the handle would get hung up a little and remain in the down position due to the corrosion inside the neck piece, and that would cause the toilet to continue running endlessly. I did try a few times to loosen the corrosion by spraying CLR, anti corrosion sprays and lubricants down the neck piece, but for whatever reason, those didn’t resolve the problem. So, I decided to stop wasting any more time on getting that handle freed up, and just replace the entire handle/lever assembly. But, being a 1950’s toilet of a visually retro design, it was important to get a handle that was visually compatible with the design of the toilet. The handle had to be chrome. I found several that appeared to be chrome, but were just chromed plastic, and those tended to be angular and not match the toilet’s curvy design well. But then I found this one, whose handle was metal, chromed, and had a curvy, swoopy handle that matched the toilet design well. Yes, the new handle has a plastic neck and nut, unlike the original, which was 100% metal, but I was willing to let that slide since the neck shouldn’t be visible. And besides that, I’ll probably never find a 100% metal handle/neck/lever assembly these days, at least not at a reasonable price. I’m not keen on investing my kid’s college fund into a fully metal toilet handle assembly. The long lever arm itself appeared to be brass or brass coated, and had 3 holes at the end. The last hole was the one that was positioned perfectly for this toilet. The product includes a decent chain and clip, but I didn’t use it, as the original was essentially identical and still in good shape (it had been replaced just 2 years ago when the flapper was replaced.)There were 2 issues/problems encountered when installing this handle on my retro 1950’s Crane toilet (and these issues may be specific to that old model):First issue: After removing the original handle, I found that the hole through the toilet tank was not actually round! It’s mostly (about 90%) round, but the hole has a carved out tail extension, such that the hole resembles the shape of the letter “Qâ€. Because of this, the square neck of the new handle (which has a black rubber collar around it) could not sit tightly within the hole; it tended to slide a little between the 5 o’clock and 11 o’clock positions. I didn’t like that. But, I tightened the plastic nut as much as I dared, and that seemed to hold the handle firmly in place. I hope it stays that way. If not, I’ll have to try filling the tail of that “Q†with Bondo or similar. But for now at least, it’s firmly in place. I should point out that on the original handle, the neck of that piece, which was metal, was shaped like a Q, to fit the Q shaped hole in the tank. I’m assuming it was designed that way so that the tail of the Q, fitting into the Q shaped hole in the tank, would prevent the handle from rotating/sliding. A nice design, but it required a specially designed handle to fit the tank, and those handles don’t appear to be readily available anymore at a decent price.Second issue: Once installed, the new handle has a little play in it (slides into and out of the tank through the hole) by about three sixteenths of an inch. Not much, not really annoying, but it’s just not tight against the tank like the original one was. I suppose that’s the price I pay for using a “universal†lever assembly, which has to fit tanks of various thicknesses. I decided to leave it as is for now, as I don’t think it’ll be a functional or cosmetic problem, and anyway I didn’t have the necessary part on hand to fix it then and there, and probably nobody but me will ever notice it. But, I may still go back to address it someday, by placing some sort of washer, O ring, or spacer between the plastic nut and the long brass lever, to take up that little bit of sliding slack. It should be an easy fix. In the end, the toilet handle flushes perfectly smoothly, no issues functionally. All in all, I recommend this toilet handle/lever assembly. No issues with it, the only issues were due to the unique oddities of my ancient commode, and those issues were easy to overcome.

This is pretty much the same as all replacement handles in this price range. It fits my American Standard, as long as I remove the rubber piece. I like the fact that it comes with a chain, as they tend to break before the arm. It was simple to install, and works the way it should.
