WARNING!!!

1. DO NOT use in wet environment.

2. DO NOT connect the power meter to a multi-plug outlet to measure multiple electrical appliances at the same time, in case the total power exceeds the threshold of 1800W and cause a short circuit.

NOTICE:

  • The consumption and time will NOT be measured and counted when:

  1. your device is in standby or not working;
  2. the rated power of your device is smaller than 0.5 watt, but energy consumption is always measured since the device was plugged in.

Got a pair of these to use for monitoring/measuring wattage consumption for various appliances and devices in our house, prior to having a generator switch installed in our house.In order to determine the branches to power through the generator switch box and how much each branch will consume for the total wattage and capacity of our generator, these two plug in monitors are proving to be worth their weight in gold!The display is crisp, the text sharp and easy to read and the backlight display, when needed, is a huge plus. The assorted options available for settings and view of volts, amps, watts, watt-hours, electrical cost factor, etc, are also excellent.Delighted with these and I might be ordering one more to monitor another major appliance we'd be using during a power-outage and generator use.My only regret is not being able to monitor 240 volt appliances like our oven/range and dryer, but, I'm searching for one specifically for this and if they're available, I'll consider getting one of those as well.As for these wattage monitors, delighted with their performance and the reasonable cost per unit. 5 Stars all around!

I use this power watt meter to track power usage for my work computer. It tells me not only how many watts it is using right now but how many kilowatt hours it uses over time and how much the electricity costs. It also keeps track of the minimum and maximum watts used. The backlight display is really nice. It comes on when you press a button and turns off after a certain amount of time. I am very happy with the functionality and ease of use. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Nice, inexpensive device. Very useful. 4-5 stars except for these negatives:1. Some controls and settings are virtually impossible to access unless you have the instructions. Not intuitive at all.2. If you want to know how much power your device uses in an hour, day, week, month, etc you must write down when you plug it in and when you unplug it. The meter will not give you that information. It only tells you how many minutes, hours, days, etc. your device is running. e.g. If your fridge, AC, or heater cycles on and off, it will tell you how many minutes, hours, days, it's been running, not how many days the appliance has been plugged in. You might have it plugged in for a week and the meter might say "3 days" because that's how long your appliance ran since you plugged it in.I've been using two of these every day for a couple months. I love the large bright blue display. You can have the screen on all the time or turn it off. By default the screen turns off after 10 minutes. Good purchase if you want to measure electricity usage.

I feel price informs value and try to include the price paid in all my reviews. I highly recommend everyone do the same. In this case, I paid $19.34 for the 2-pack on 11/4/23.If you are reading reviews of power meters, you already know why you want one. This particular model is a good successor to the old Kill-A-Watt meters. The KW brand still exists, but have priced themselves out of the game.Pros: These meters have a large, bright display, easy controls, and are (within my ability to test, which makes them fine for the home gamer) very accurate.These will track all the usual real-time info: Volts/PF/Watts/Amps/Hz etc. And they have a nice cumulative power consumption option that is missing on some of the other lower cost meters. This feature is great to find how much item x is using over a day or a week, etc. I use them to test battery capacity for my solar system and they work fantastically without the need for uni-taskers equipment like a coulomb meter.Cons'ish:Version - Make sure you get the model that says "Updated". There is an identical looking model that doesn't have a backlight, nor does it have the ability to reset the watts over time count without a "press the button in the hole with a pen" method. If the pictures shows the blue backlight, you are all good, but I find the old version pretty much useless and didn't' realize till too late to return.Size - These are pretty big. Lots of scenarios where they will block the other outlet, etc. Easy enough to work around, but worth noting.Summary - I've got several of these and couldn't be happier. I use them at home and work and have never had any trouble with them. They handle 15 amp loads without any issue as well. I would definitely recommend when on sale around $10/per.

These work great and I got two because the two-pack was not much more cost than one. The display is very easy to read and if you know anything about basic electricity these are very easy to use and understand. First thing I was curious about was how many amps & watts the electric heaters and window AC unit were using. I discovered that my electric heaters that are a few years old are not using 1500 watts, but less, and the AC window unit was more efficient that the specifications say it is. Now I know why one 1500 watt heater is giving off less heat than another 1500 watt heater. Most folks should have one of these in whatever type housing they live in. If some electrical device you are using is drawing less or more than it is supposed to you should check it carefully or have some experienced electrician check it out. I disposed of the 1500 watt (rated) heater than was using just 1000 watts and bought a new one that really does use 1500 watts. Big improvement in heating a bedroom with the new heater.

I have only had the meter for a week or so. We bought it to replace a much older unit (different model and manufacturer) that had mysteriously become very inaccurate. Everything so far has been quite pleasingly simple. The massive advantage over the old device is that this meter will integrate the power reading over a period of time to give total energy consumed in kWh. The old meter would only give current power consumption. If the equipment under test has fluctuating demand (e.g. anything with a temperature controlled heater or pump), it is very difficult to get a good idea of energy usage without this feature.I have compared the voltage reading against an accurate digital voltmeter and get agreement with 0.5%. I cannot be sure the current range is as accurate, because I could only compare it with a current clamp working at the lower end of its range, but the readings were consistent so I have no reason to doubt the plug-in meter. I do find it strange that nowhere on the unit is there any mention of the manufacturer or model number, although there is a label giving the electrical specifications.The instructions are very brief, as mentioned elsewhere, but then they'll get lost anyway! It is obvious how to operate (except I have not used the cost function. I am perfectly capable of multiplying the kWh buy the charge rate using a calculator). The most important point to remember ( I will probably write it on the unit) is that you can clear the readings and restart the timer by holding don the "FUNCTION" and "UP" buttons for a few seconds. For us it is really useful that we can clear the readings without having to interrupt power to the equipment for which we were measuring the power consumption. I have not had any need to press the "RESET" button yet.The price was very keen and it's doing a really good job for us so far. I have no reason not to give it 5 stars

Works great, easy to setup, large display easy to read from wide angles. Able to access power usage for device. For items like refrigerators, freezers, items that start and stop as needed, I set up for a week or so to et average daily usage.

I was a bit skeptical due to some bad review, complains about the back-light and display, and also some terrifying pictures of molten plugs. However IF someone read the manual, it specifically specifies that the device configuration MUST be changed before use.Out of the box the power limit before a shut off is set to 3600W. Any reasonably knowledgeable person will set this to 1500W max, or even lower to match the expected power rating of the connected device.The display is fine, but must have the back-light on to see it. There are also configuration for setting the back-light timeout. I set it to manual, so I hit the "UP" button to turn it on, and use the "DOWN" to turn it off. You can choose other options.Some other complaints were about accuracy at low power, again this is addressed in the manual.So it turns out that most negative 1 star reviews were basically regarding issues that were addressed in the included documentation anyways.There are valid concerns, such as the device not being certified, or tested by various relevant certification bodies, and for this category of device it is desirable to have proper certifications. However, having the device certified will probably push up the price way higher than what this is selling for right now. Additionally the competition is charging a lot more for an inferior experience. So just take it for what it is.
