Could probably fit between 22-28 books depending on size and thickness. It was a little bit of a struggle to assemble, but I got it done. Minimal parts so it probably took less than 30 minutes. Required a screwdriver, which I didn’t have one on hand. I’ve ordered several things through Amazon that I’ve had to assemble and it always came with some kind of tool…so that was the only downside..but now I have a screwed that will just sit in a drawer until I find something to use it for again lol.

I think this little book shelf is great. My daughter immediately loved picking books from it. I think it made my daughter want to read more now that her books were more accessable. Easy to put together. Good product.
