What is a Wooden Dowel Pin?
Wooden dowel pin was made by carpenters in the early days and maybe one of the earliest fasteners. Modern round wood pins are integrated into the mechanical manufacturing process, with uniform appearance and high dimensional accuracy. Used with other wood-based adhesives, the strength and durability are as good as metal dowel pins.
Applications: Wooden dowel pins are generally made of hardwood, such as oak, birch, pearwood, etc. They are commonly used in wooden installations, home furnishings, gardening, handicrafts, etc.

How to use it?
Wooden dowel pins are generally machined or rolled on the outer circle, with grooves or patterns distributed. It is mainly to reduce the contact area inserted into the fixing hole, and the insertion force is small. At the same time, fixing glue can be applied to the outer surface of the pin. These grooves or patterns can retain the adhesive and make the fixing tighter. You can also tap into the positioning pin with a hammer lightly.

I am surprised on how many projects were completed with this bag of dowels. They are a hard wood with deep ridges, to hold the glue. Not a cheap pine or fir. I did buy these for a particular project but in just a week or so I have used them to complete several other projects that have been sitting, waiting for a solution. Seems this is a standard size that fits just about everything. I purchased these for repair on a large picture frame and they worked perfect with no additional drilling. We also have a shelving unit where the barrel bolts loosened up and the machine screws would not hold, same with a crib. I was thinking of so many options up till now and when these arrived, they looked perfect for the task. A spot of wood glue and just hammered them in one after the other till the hole was filled and the joint complete. Too easy but the repair was solid and met my standards which are high for a crib. I have used most of the bag but will be ordering more in a few different sizes once these are gone. For a solid repair hardwood dowels and a good quality wood glue beats a screw any day in my opinion.

These things are good. They don't splinter apart or anything. Only very small issue I had was they are a little big. They are supposed to be 8mm but they are more like 8.5mm. i had to hammer them into the piece I was working on, I know they need to be snug but these can put unnecessary stress into the piece because they are big.

These are a little bit under the stated diameter which can make them too loose for a good joint.
