Brass balls also have the ability to resist the corrosive effects of fuel oil, gasoline, dry carbon dioxide, benzene, lime-sulphur mixture and similar chemical agents.
Brass balls are frequently used in many types of valve applications requiring small-size balls.
Specially useful for casters, drawer slides, door locks and many other applications.
Suitable for a range of purposes, some of the most common are listed below:
1/8" is often used for clusters and old English-style headsets
1/4" is often used for rear wheels and bottom brackets
3/16" is often used for front wheels
5/32" is often used for headsets with pressing cups

I made a bird bath filler/cleaner out of 1/2†copper pipe. I needed to plug one side of a copper T that had a 1/2â€NPT thread fitting for an in-ground stake. I needed to stop water flow in that direction. This fit perfectly inside my 1/2†fitting and I just sweated the whole assembly at once and gave the brass ball a touch of solder and it was sealed for good!
