This wasn't low grade stainless, this was really hard to cut. This stock material makes excellent shafts for most 3D printed projects that use 4mm holes, which is most of them. The builders kit and the eeezybot on Pinterest use 4mm shafts.

The rod is straight, very good metal quality. But be aware the rod is out of round everywhere they cut the ends as they sized them down. So if you are like me and are cutting them yourself, I used mine in Rc landing gear. They are perfect! Great price and they showed up reasonably fast.

These rods did what I wanted them to do (or at least one did, the other nine are still unused). I needed to make a 4mm diameter slave pin, so I simply used a rotary tool to cut the rod to the desired length. The fact that there was so much resistance when cutting the rod tells me that it is of good quality; good solid stainless steel. My only complaint, obviously, is that I didn't need 10 of these things; but oh well. Maybe I'll get to use them again, maybe I won't... but if I do, at least I know I can trust them to do what I want.
