I use these bits to make bushings for pen turning kits. I have a mandrel and a between centers set, both from Penn State Industries. My standard 1/4" bit resulted in too loose a fit, but these bits worked perfectly. The bushing goes on the mandrel shaft easily but securely, and there was no slop. They are sharp and cut easily through cold rolled steel on my metal lathe. Can't comment on the longevity yet as I've only made a few bushings so far. 5 stars.

I've never tried to drill through hard metal before and didn't know what to expect. I had tried some titanium stepped bits before this one and made no progress at all.I used the slowest speed on my drillpress. Although it took time, and had to stop when bit got red hot, the bit eventually drilled through. The bit might have cut in better (like I saw in videos) if I had an even slower speed and applied more pressure. Again, I have no other personal experience with bits like these, so its hard for me to judge.
