I was trying to install a seat with a plastic base onto a lawn mower, and the normal rivnuts pulled out. I didn’t know these existed, but I’m happy I found them. They worked fantastic and work similar to a drywall anchor, but metal.

These were fairly easy to install with a "rivnut insert setting tool." They expand as intended, and provide a secure attachment point for threaded fasteners if installed correctly. I used these to secure a roof rack to the bare roof of my Crown Vic.I chose these rivnuts because the flange on the top of the insert is larger than other rivnuts I was considering.

There have been at least 3 that have stripped out, requiring me to drill it out, which is a major PITA btw.

These worked perfectly in the existing holes of my 2019 Ford Transit. Held tight. Great for installing cabinets in the van.

These inserts do not grip, and rotate easily. The metal is cheap, too soft. Nothing but a headache to use.

I couldn't use my installation tool for these as the mandrel stud was much too short to engage the threads on the insert.

Collapses well and maintains mounting in base material.
