Didn't realize some rv parks require this gadget in order to use their full hook up sites- but it makes sense b/c no one wants to reenact the poop scene from the RV movie ! So this keeps your sewer hose securely settled in the sewer hole-and prevents unpleasant odors from escaping to your neighbors' spot. For inside odors? Don't serve too many beans n weenies unless your RV is VERY spacious!

I ordered this item with the Valterra drain system. The description made no mention a similar item was included in that set. When I wanted to return it I received a refund and didn't need to return the coupler. So now I have an extra. It is a well made item and should be an excellent replacement if ever needed. Valterra makes a good product, some made in Mexico and some made in China. The prices on Amazon beat all others I have researched. Can't argue with the process either.
