Brand new camper. Grey valve was glued shut from the factory. New one works like a charm. Easy to replace.

YES!!!! I needed to replace both gray & black water valves. I had the black water valve, just waiting for the gray valve. I installed both valves today and WOW!!!!!What a difference it makes with new valves. Make sure to use Vaseline on the new rubber seals before installing. Also use TRI-FLOW on the metal shaft that opens and closes the valve. It’ll make it easier to open and close the valve.

I'll rate the product 5 stars as it seems to be good quality. The previous Valterra valves have been on the RV for 16 years. The installation should be very easy but that depends completely on the design of your RV. The valves in my rig are in a enclosed heated compartment. The piping is rigidly held in place at all points. The 3" valve installed OK with help from a friend doing his best to separate the pipes so as to facilitate me slipping the new valve in place. I thought the 1 1/2" valve was also successfully installed at the same time using the same method as both held water overnight with no leaks at all. I was very surprised to find the 1 1/2" valve leaked as I emptied the tanks. The outer seal folded over during the installation allowing the leak when emptying. I just mention this as a suggestion to checks for leaks even while emptying before declaring the job a success. I had already replaced the 5' long compartment bottom sheet metal panel assuming all was good and now am redoing the job. I will be checking for leaks when emptying before putting that panel back on this time!

The new valve works great & especially glad I purchased the metal handled valve. The old valve I replaced was also a Valterra but with the plastic handle. The plastic handles get brittle with age & break off, still got 9 out of the original. If your valves don't open will a light two finger pull, look into replacing them. You'll be glad you did & it's only a 5 minute job.

Works fine. Silver metal handle twists off if you want to add an extension rod.
