Back in college I played on a B45, which I had since given to my son (who is now in college). I've been playing on a 3D-printed bright yellow SYOS mouthpiece (laugh if you want but they cost twice as much as this mouthpiece) but I was finding it just wasn't that responsive and I didn't like the way it sounded.I decided to go back to the B45, but this time the "Lyre" variant. I'm playing mostly on Légère synthetic reeds these days as I'm playing in pit orchestras and need something that will respond instantly after sitting untouched for several minutes. I was beginning to think my Légère was dying based on the sound I was getting with it on the SYOS, but I put it on this B45 Lyre and was immediately blown away by how easy it is to play and the tone I am getting.I've combined this with a Rovner Mark III ligature. Works great and the price is right!

Okay, fellow clueless and frustrated parents, this one's for you. My eighth-grader dropped and broke her clarinet mouthpiece. I headed to the local music store and bought her the only model they had, which cost me $30. Problem solved, right? HA. The sound was breathy, the high notes were squeaky, darling daughter was in despair. I headed to Amazon, where I was stunned and horrified by the number of options, models, price points. WHO KNEW???? Let's skip over the rest of my super-frustrating search and cut to the chase. This one is the one you want; it's totally worth it; you would not believe the difference it makes. I still have no idea what the letters and numbers mean, but this mouthpiece is magical. Even my husband (who likes Steely Dan, so I'm not sure he can even hear music) was blown away. The tone is just beautiful, the high notes a breeze to hit. Darling daughter's face absolutely LIT UP; it was like Christmas in September. She actually called me a "genius." (I'll be living on that one for a while.)

Makes all the difference with an intermediate or even student clarinet. Be sure to wash it weekly rather than swabbing as the swab will deform the mouthpiece. Excellent product very good price
