Your cart is empty.Developed in 1983 for jazz and popular music, the JAVA reed incorporates a thicker tip and a more flexible palette than the Tradational reed which allows the reed to vibrate over a larger surface area with maximum elasticity. This type of vertebral column gives the musician much greater playing flexibility, as the resultant elesticity zone is very large. The palette is the zone where the air waves are propgated with the greatest range. From the tip, the waves are absorbed firther in the JAVA reed.

Played on normal Vandorens for a while, and my god have I been missing out. These give the perfect tone and fit my mouthpiece amazingly. 10/10 would recommend and buy again.

These reeds are great, and I have no regrets on purchasing these. Though a little pricey($8 a reed!), the sound quality is really good. A friend recommended that I try V16's next, so I'll buy a box of those when I deplete these puppies. These reeds are beautiful

My set up is an Vandoren v16 b9 mouthpiece with the v16 optimum ligature, and these reeds are amazing!! It sounds great with my set up. I will totally buy again. Shipping was fast.

Best brand of reeds by far. My son has been playing sax (everything from Alto to Bari) and has tried different reeds. These give the best sound for his ensemble work.

I recently purchased a VanDoren V16 B7 Bari mouthpiece. I thought the VanDoren 2.5 reed would work well. I was wrong. It sounded stuffy and required a lot of effort to get any sound. I visually compared it to other reeds and noticed that that vamp (tip to the cane stock or heel) is noticeably longer than most other reeds. I will work on it with my Reed Geek and see if I can improve it. I gave it 2 stars because I have used this style of reed on my tenor sax and love it. Maybe it was just a bad reed but at these prices they should all be good.
