We bought this for our guinea pig cage. We won’t have wire slates so we need something that holds enough water but can stand on its own. Works well. Adjustable

Package was crushed when received; items inside were okay but don't fit together well. I wouldn't say this is good for cats or dogs, regardless of size, however - maybe for rabbits, guinea pigs, or other small animal.

This water bowl does exactly what it claims to do. It doesn't spill, even when I move the large crate it is installed inside, from one end of the room to another. Additionally, it does not overflow - due to it's design, the water will stop about 3/4 of an inch below the rim on initial fill. If your pet prefers a higher water level, so it is easier to drink from, you can remove the white flotation device and give the water bottle a little twist. Once it reaches the desired level, you can twist the bottle in the opposite direction to cut off the flow. My pet used to love to play in his water bowl in his crate, and make a big mess. However, the Vannon pet bowl for whatever reason, does not encourage this behavior from him. He still seems to drink just as much from this as from his previous bowl.At first, like other reviewers, we had some trouble with him biting the rim, rather than drinking from it. After I removed the white insert, and lowered the bowl, he seemed more content to simply drink, and not chew the edges. If you run into similar, you might want to try repositioning the bowl and removing the insert.The quality of the plastic is very good, as is the moulding of all of the parts. The bracket to mount the bottle on the cage is particularly sturdy and grips very well, compared to any of the other small animal cage accessories that I've tested. Once secured, the bottle does not budge, nor does it slip down with use, which is great, as I am used to needing to continually check and tighten the brackets to make sure that they remain secure. I don't anticipate that being a problem with the Vannon water bowl, as it seems to be very good quality, and I suspect that it will last quite a while. If anything changes, I will update my review. On the whole, I am very pleased with this water bottle - it's eliminated the need to continually check on the cage water bowl, and wipe up the inevitable spills and splashes. In fact, I was able to completely remove the little folded microfiber cloths that I used to keep folded up under his old water bowl, which is really nice, as that's one less thing to need to worry about washing every few days.If you have a small pet that you need to keep crated for a time for behavioral. health, or maturity reasons, do consider the Vannon Pet Water Bottle. I wish that I had gone with this one from the beginning, rather than wasting my time and money on several cheaper versions that caused nothing but problems. It would have been much simpler, less stressful, and ultimately, less expensive to go with this at the outset, rather than make do with inferior products. Its very important to ensure that your beloved pet has access to clean, fresh water in his or her crate/playpen, and at the same time, to provide a dry, comfortable and sanitary environment for him/her to chillax in. I am so glad that this design exists, because it really does work as a simple solution to meeting those two conflicting needs. Highly recommended!

In all honesty, I am looking for an alternate water dish for my birds - I have a cockatiel and a parakeet and they grew up drinking from those nozzle type bottles that you put in a hampster cage, until a couple of years ago when the ball in the nozzle got stuck and they weren't able to get water out of it and I had no clue! Luckily I realized what was happening and ordered a different dish right away.I liked the design of this one and ordered it to give it a try. It's interesting how the inner dish floats up to the top when the water levels are high, but when it isn't high, the dish is lower and I felt that maybe, because of the depth of the water dish, that it might then get too low. I also thought about the fact that there is nothing to prevent them from pooing in the water too. So I'm not actually using this.I have a friend that takes a neighbor's guinea pigs in for a few weeks each summer when their owners go on vacation and I'm going to see if this works for them.But for the animals it's intended for, it seems like it's well designed. Nothing about it feels cheap and so even though it didn't work out for what I needed it for, it does seem to be a good product!

Easy setup and our puppy is already putting it to use! Setup is simple and took me just a couple minutes. Instructions are provided. Be sure to rinse out all components (including the actual water bowl and the bottle) before allowing your pet to drink from it. We don’t have a kennel-style crate for our puppy so we are not utilizing the twist-to-lock mounting feature (bowl is designed to mount onto the small bars of the kennel/crate) found at the back of the automatic water bowl. But we were happy to discover that the bowl will still sit firm and flat in the ground so no worries about it spilling from tipping over. Overall it’s a pretty simple design but it works great. Our puppy is already putting it to use just minutes after we set it up for her lol Definitely recommended!

Great water dispenser for a crate instead of a water bowl on the bottom that gets knocked over. I have a top paw crate and this was an easy install. Even without the floating disk (in there now, I just forgot to put in at first) water doesn't overflow or splash around. Convenient with the reservoir being on the outside for refilling. The first few times I refilled it left a few dribbles of water on the floor, but with practice now I can refill it without any droplets. It's for the new puppy, but even the big dog likes it so much he actually sticks his head in the cage to drink from it. Nice dispenser works well, makes more floor space in the crate, gives fresh water to my pup, and is a simple design that is easy to use.
