I'll admit it, I always took locking file cabinets for granted. I knew they weren't super secure but figured that there would be a little more to them. I have two at home which I bought used and neither had working locks. I thought I'd try and remedy that. Long story short this lock easily replaced the one in my HON file cabinet and it looks to be every bit the equal of the original lock that was no longer functioning. To get this one to work required lubricating the internal lock bar on the inside of the file cabinet which had frozen up and was most likely the reason the original had failed. Having done all that it is now working but I learned the locks themselves are a flimsy design, not much protection in reality. So, I give the product 5 stars because it works as well as an OEM lock and is just a strong. Unfortunately, the file cabinet locks seem designed to keep mostly honest people out.

This is a nice functional little wafer lock not a bad value for the money the parts are well made they don't have burrs or rough edges so it's easily installed everything kind of just slides where it's supposed to go and it fits well. Also if you're into Lockport, it's a good little practice wafer it's not super high security but it's not a freebie either the key way makes things a little difficult as jigglers didn't work on it even so you're going to have to use a ball snowman or grab a diamond and do some spp. It was fun the metal is not cheap or at the very least it's not garbage material I recommend it.

We had a filing cabinet without a lock. My Brother realized that there was a locking mechanism already inside the filing cabinet and there was a knockout plug for a lock. He knocked out the plug installed the lock and tada, we have a locking filing cabinet. The lock works perfectly!

Identical to other file cabinet lock kits, this one is remarkably easy to install. It necessitates only a few basic tools: pliers, and possibly a punch and hammer for creating an entry hole in the file cabinet. Once installed, it operates with dependable reliability.
