I used the VEVOR 12V Linear Actuator (20-inch high speed, 220 lbs) as a door operator for my chicken coop, and it works perfectly for this purpose. With its 220 lb force, I paired it with a cable system to lift the door. This setup ensures the cable goes slack when the door closes, preventing any risk of harming my chickens—a big concern for me!The actuator operates at just the right speed (0.55"/s), slow enough to give the chickens plenty of time to move out of the way, which is a crucial safety feature. I have bought a couple of these and for the price you can’t beat it. I use them for automatic chicken doors so they are outside 24/7 and not covered from the rain entirely. They have lasted an extremely long time considering the abuse. I bought a back up one just in case one breaks one of these days but it’s still on the shelf due to the endurance of the product. I’m sure if you covered them and took care of them properly they might last for years and years. They can lift a good amount of weight and I was kinda surprised by overall strength of the device. I’m sure the more weight you lift that might affect the lifetime of it but I’ve had nothing but good experience with these so far. Mine go up and down 2 times a day in case anyone was wondering and do so with about 30 pounds of weight with ease. I use one to lift the chicken feed off the ground to protect from pests and other uninvited guests at night as well.

I used these to make a computer podium with adjustable height top. It works well, a little noisy but for the price it does what I need.

Using it for a chicken door and can't beat it for the price point. Has internal limits for extend and retract. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and seems well built. Not overly loud and only took the chickens a couple of days to get used to it. Will buy more for other projects.

This linear actuator was much cheaper than any other with identical specs I could find. It works really well and seems sturdy and somewhat waterproof. Used them to motorize my snowblower chute.Can't beat the price. Time will tell if they are reliable.
