I've used these mallets both for solos and in ensembles. They provide a wide range of sound, ranging from very soft to very loud, and create a very pleasant timbre. Highly recommended.

These mallets have a great feel and provide good tonal balance pp - ff. If there were one thing I might change is perhaps a larger diameter sick, but that is a personal thing.

These are the M124 van Sice mallets that have the synthetic core and are multi-tonal (they are NOT the the M114 - darker grey ones with the rubber core. They are perfect for playing legato passages, to playing loud articulated passages even in the higher octave ranges. Great all-round mallet. Nice long maple handles that aren't as polished as some of the other ones, so ok to grip.
