This is a great product and lifts heavy objects up to the tailgate with ease. I used it for a 200 lb portable generator and it made loading it easy. But I must say I'm not happy with the steel cable used on the hand winch. Under the load of a lift the cable tangles itself and its difficult to keep it tight enough on the spool to prevent pinching the cable making it difficult to lower a load. I think a nylon web winch strap would be more well suited for the product. I will likely switch mine to a nylon strap in the near future.

I ordered this for my husband for his birthday and he just used it the first time. He said it was easy to install for those with a little mechanical knowledge. It works as advertised and kept him from having to call a buddy to load his first deer for the year. The deer pictured was 100 lbs for reference.

This allowed me to unload a 260 pound generator from my 2023 Ridgeline by myself with ease. Also worked well to load it again. This would help with loading other heavy items alone as well.

We bought this to get our heavy generator into the back of our pickup truck when we go camping. It is still a two person job (although one could maybe do it) but it is so much safer now with almost no lifting needed. It was easy to assemble out of the box. Once assembled we practiced with it a bit to make sure we understood how to work the crank mechanism safely. But after that we were good to go. It is built to perfectly fit so that the tailgate can open and it lifts just high enough to clear the bed. It is very well made and sturdy. We highly recommend.

I have an F250 4WD, so my tailgate is a little taller than most. I hurt my back and planned to use this device to lift a 200 pound cabinet. As I raised the pedestal closer to the tailgate, the lift became increasingly unstable as it leans to one side or the other. The ratchet handle also begins to conflict with the object on the pedestal, making it more difficult to turn. The pedestal itself tends to bend on the ends. The $800 cabinet fell from about 3' and was damaged. I tried it a second time with more determination to hold it steady, but once again it became unstable and I could not stop the cabinet from falling again. My new $800 cabinet is dented and scratched on all sides. Perhaps it is fine for lifting a dead animal, but this is NOT designed to lift much else. Moreover, the sloppy lift and weak pedestal created a very dangerous situation.

The concept of this rig is simply brilliant. It's a 54lb rig that breaks down into three easy to manage components. And setup and teardown can be accomplished in less than two minutes. I havent used mine yet, but I have no reason to believe that it wont work as advertised. I expect that it will work to my satisfaction.So why 3 stars? It's all down to the manufacturing. This thing was literally produced in a factory somewhere deep in the interior of China with a dirt floor and some seriously hokey production equipment. Probably by some seriously underpaid child labor. Was it hard to put together? That's a matter of perspective. There's not enough to it to BE very difficult to put together. So technically, no it wasn't hard. But with that said, its difficult to Express how much harder assembling this thing was than it needed to be, which in the end was just infuriating. It should have taken just a few minutes to assemble. Instead it took me nearly 45 minutes with friggin around compensating for terrible manufacturing. And I didn't even have a problem installing the winch, be cause I have a box end wrench and a roll of tape, and I know how to use them. But there were plenty of other inconceivably stupid manufacturing defects that needed to be compensated for. The bottom line is this. They opted for thee cheapest manufacturing they cold get, barr none. And for 200, honestly, harbor freight produces considerably better products. This reminds me of stuff harbor freight was producing like 15 to 20 years ago. I certainly would expect better for the money.Now with all that said, do I believe this will do exactly what I want it to do? You bet. It's really so simple, even poor manufacturing can't screw the final results up too bad. In fact, if they would put a little more into producing a more polished product, I would pay the extra dollars and give this 5 stars all day long.

I needed this to load equipment into my truck, does the trick.I only wish the had made the part under the platform a square tube with two quick release pins. That way the bar with hoist could be broken down even further for easy transport and storage.

Beware of buying! The package came in looking like it was used! Tons of scratches and rust everywhere on the frame. Had to file a return on the item. Terrible quality and longevity are unknown.

Package was mangled so bad it’s hard to know if pieces are missing!! This was supposed to be a gift!! Not happy!
