I've heard this kind of pancake lens referred to as a body cap lens. That really sums it up, as it doesn't stick much further out from the camera body than a body cap does. The idea here is that you use this to cap your camera body instead of a regular cap. That way you always have a lens attached in case you need to quickly take pictures. This lens is perfect for this purpose.You need to know that this is a fixed aperture, autofocus lens. You cannot change the aperture from f/4.5, and you cannot manually focus the lens. The autofocus is quiet, and while not speedy, it's adequate for a moderately wide focal length.I found the stated f/4.5 aperture is not quite right. I think it's more like f/5 or even smaller. When compared to another 28mm lens of mine at f/4.5, the images from this lens are noticeably darker.The good news is that even with lens correction off, the amount of vignetting is not significant. Much better than I would have expected. Please understand there is some vignetting, it's just not atrocious.It is also surprisingly sharp. No, it's not G Master sharp, but it's no toy camera lens. Chromatic aberrations exist. I noticed both purple and cyan fringing in high-contrast areas when pixel peeping. Once again, even the CA was not nearly as pronounced as I would have expected. I didn't try running a correction on it because it wasn't terrible.This is not meant to be your one and only 28mm lens; it's meant to replace your body cap so that you can have a lens on and ready at all times. For this purpose, I think it's fantastic and a great value as well.

The Viltrox 28mm F4.5 lens is so perfect for a daily carry lens especially for larger mirrorless cameras like the A7IV significantly reducing the overall size of your rig. I love that for $99 you are able to get a lens that not only has autofocus but also has a metal mount with usb-c port for firmware upgrades.At not much larger than a lens cap the integrated lens cap is such a clever idea. Although I wish that this lens was able to accept filters the integrated lens cap makes it so easy to protect the front element when throwing it into a bag or backpack by sliding the front lever.There are however a few small quirks about this lens keeping in mind that this is a very budget lens for your Sony camera system. One quirk is that this lens is set to an aperture of F4.5 meaning that you are unable to change the aperture of this lens at all. The opening is F4.5 so you have to adjust your other settings (iso, shutter speed) in order to compensate for exposure which can make it not so great for videography especially if you are trying to keep the shutter set to keep the 180 degree rule (1/50 for 24fps, 1/120 for 60fps, etc). Another quirk is the fact that this lens is not able to accept any kind of filter as it is not threaded in the front. This means that if you are using the lens to film videos than you are unable to attach a vnd in front or if you are photographing vehicles or landscapes than you are not able to attach a cpl to remove reflections.All of those negatives aside I really love using this lens. It's simple, has autofocus, and makes my lens so pocketable that I no longer use any sort of body cap on my a7IV. I just keep this lens mounted so that I am ready to shoot at a moments notice and will switch from it when needed. As a photo lens this thing is amazing and the fact that it's 28mm on a full frame makes it so versatile. Using the crop feature on my A7IV I am able to get a 42mm perspective essentially giving me two focal lengths to chose from in such a small form factor.For the price I think this thing is perfect and that everyone should atleast give it a chance. This is now the primary lens for my A7IV and I will be utilizing my other focal lengths for my FX3 now.

F値が4.5のみで広角レンズという仕様でスマホに似た感覚で使用しやすいレンズです。歪曲は少なく水平位で風景を撮影しても目に付くようなものはなし。ピントリングもない為完全にAF頼みの撮影方法になりますが、AFの信頼性も高く（但し一昔前のDCモーター程度の速さ）静物撮影にはもってこい。画質もA7IISで撮影している分には全く問題なし。常用レンズとしても個人的にはあり。ペンタのビスケットレンズには及ばないもののパンケーキレンズとしてはかなり薄い方ですね。問題としてはあまり気にしなくても良いとは思いますが、稀に起動時にレンズ情報を読み込めず使えないことがある点くらい。電源入れ直しで改善しているので今のところ撮影出来なくなったなどはないです。コスパもよくちょっと交換レンズに手を出してみたい人には是非おすすめしたいレンズです。

Eマウントでは35mm換算で42mmくらいの画角です。絞り固定レンズは初めてです。こんな変なレンズがあったんですね。周辺光量落ちがかなりあり味といえば味ですがローファイな感じの画にになります。フィルタースレッドはなく、フタは手動というのも面白いです。

かなりコンパクトです。タイトル通りa7iiiにつけていますがレンズをつけていない位に小さいですね。ほぼ本体の重さ以外は気にならないというのが利点でそれ故に「持っていくか」とカメラを持つ気になれるのが良いです。レンズ自体はF4.5固定なのであまりボケは楽しめないのと少しAFが遅い気がしますが、この価格なら許容範囲です。あと地味に嬉しいポイントなのがキャップがスライドなので楽ちんスマート。本来の画質を楽しむという点がやや劣りますが、とりあえず持ち歩く気持ちにさせてくれる軽さ、そしてこの価格は中々のハイコスパだと感じました。

NEX-5Tだとレンズを装着すると電源が入らずNEX-C3だと普通に認識されて使えました(C3だとAF速度はSEL16F28と同じくらいで遅めで暗いとAFは迷い気味)少し調べるとEマウント機でも対応機種欄にない機種は電源が入らない場合もあるようなので注意重さ実測59gと軽いSEL16F28の6割程度の厚みでとても薄いフィルターは装着できませんがレンズ前面にあるレバーをスライドさせるとレンズカバーが出てくるの一応安心逆行には弱めでF値も固定ですがオールドレンズのような写りで価格の割に解像感もありコンデジ感覚で気楽に使えて結構良い後玉が少しはみ出ているのでキャップ無しに机に置いたりするとレンズが傷つくので注意ファームウェアアップデート公式サイトの説明をみてWindows11機にUSB接続してみましたが認識せずAndroidアプリの「Viltrox Lens」をインストールしてBluetooth接続？でアップデートできましたレンズをカメラに取り付けていない状態でもレンズにUSB接続で電源が配給されていればアプリと接続できました電源が入らない機種もファームウェアアップデートで使えるようになってほしい
