The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor is used by the engine control unit (ECU) to monitor the engine’s coolant temperature. The ECU uses the signals from the engine coolant temperature sensor to determine adjustments required to the engine’s timing and fuel calculations for peak performance. Temperature sensors fail due to simple wear and tear, or the sensor connector and wiring harness can lose connectivity over time. Symptoms of failure include poor fuel economy & reduced engine power, rough idle, surging & stalling.

Got the dreaded error code for the Power Brakes with the fan on full blast... Did this while I was in there with the Thermostat Replacement. Worked/fit perfectly. I will say it's a nightmare to get out and a crows-foot def helps a lot. Also be careful with the wire connector/lock, it can be finicky and you don't want to break it.

I replaced the OEM sensor with this one, and it has failed in less than a month. At first, it failed and worked intermittently, but it failed completely in less than a month after I installed it.I installed it in a Cadillac XT6 V6 engine and replacing this sensor was a huge task, to put it mildly! To replace the sensor in my GM engine, I had to remove the entire top intake and make special tools to accomplish this task, which translated into the fact that I spent 6 hours in replacing the dead OEM sensor. I am disgusted that I have to undertake that task again, so soon after completing it.I expect the distributor will ignore this message due to the cost of this sensor being so minuscule, but I felt it important that I relate my disappointment, disgust and utter frustration at the trash that they are peddling. It's not like I sought out the cheapest sensor I could find, because I intentionally chose a mid-priced item. I also won't be able to get my money back because I don't have the time to correct this blunder and send it back, so I will probably exceed the 30-day return time frame.DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!UPDATE:I wrote to the vendor and expressed my concerns, about 3 weeks ago and all I got was crickets! So their customer service is obviously non-existent, and I ran out of options so I had to replace it AGAIN, with this one, "https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HQSNQXW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title", and it seems to be working just fine. So I will reiterate:DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

Installed it, but got error code when I turned the car on. Had to buy another one from the repair shop directly.
