I purchased this unit for home use. Overkill, yes I know! I have had it for about 3 weeks and use it everyday. I have made sandwiches, grilled veggies, steak, chicken, flatbread, and even french fries. It's a fantastic unit. I have no doubt it will hold up to commercial use. I unplug the unit when I am not using it and also have it on the same "breaker" as my microwave (don't use both at the same time as I am sure it would trip the breaker). I have the ridged grill and was torn about whether I should get the flat surface instead. But because I love grill marks I decided to go with this unit. I am sure it's not as easy to clean as he flat but I have a pretty good method to keep it nice and clean. I pour hot water on the surface after use and close the slid for a few moments. Then I use the brush (included) to dislodge any stuck food. I rinsed again with hot water (after emptying the draining pan, which would be full of water from the first step) and then leave the unit on until the water dries up. If needed, I will rub lightly with oil. I am absolutely in love with this grill.

The grates are not removable so it can be hard to clean the ends and edges. Works great and does what it is suppose to. Will update on how long it will last
