I purchased this tensioner to see if it would keep the winch cable under control. I have a 17500 on the front of my f250. I also have the warn hidden bumper setup. With this the larger cable, if not carefully wound, will hit the condenser. After installing the warn cable tensioner the cable wound on the drum flawlessly. I wish I would have known about this years ago.The only thing is you need the round drum braces. My winch has rectangle. I had another old winch laying around and was able to use the round drum brace with no problem. The front brace I had to trim each side enough to fit the spring holder. Not a big deal. The winch had cast ridges on the outside, so it could not be mounted that way.This is well worth the money spent. No more damage and no rats nest. Recommend for all winches heavy and light.

So this fits a Warn 16.5ti perfectly and works GREAT - even though it's not supposed to. *PLEASE NOTE** You MUST cut off a 3/8" piece of the front tie-rod to be able to fit the (2) front spring mounts. The tie-rods are made out of ALUMINUM and very, very easy to cut with a hacksaw. You'll need a pry bar to pop them both out after you take out the bolts holding them in. Be careful not to pry too hard in the middle and bend them. I did on the front tie-rod and no big deal I just used a mallet and hammered it back. The tie-rod in the rear needs NO modification though, just pop it off and slide it through the opening of the plate. Reassemble and voila!I honestly can't believe it worked out so well, these things rarely do lol.**Update 2-22-19** So the drum tensioner works great on my 16.5ti! The springs keep the drum tight, but I can still free-spool to get slack. Now my cable doesn't turn to spaghetti anymore on the drum when I let off torque on the line! If your winch cable overlaps at all under a load; it will kink and/or crush the cable.

The product description said it is for a 8â€drum. I thought warn meant 8†wide drum. After examining the parts it became clear to me that warn was describing a 8†DIAMETER drum. The springs are 7†long tip to tip and are rated 80lbs each. The pressure plate is 4â€x7 3/4†x 12ga. This plate will have a short life with these heavy springs. This kit will not work for warn M8000, XD9000, or 9.5 . As a mechanic and a fabricator I rate this kit 3 stars based on durability and product description.

This product was not made specifically for the Warn 9000 series winch. However with very little modifications it works perfectly. Works exactly as described!
