This is my second one of these sand paper block. The firs one lasted about 15 years so they are well made. It uses 1/4 or a sheet of sand pape. It holds the paper firmly in place.

I like this handy old school sanding tool generally. BUT, *If I designed this, I'd have made the top sideedges rounded and shaped more to fit the human palm. Note, the rubber typically is hard to use at 1st,then over time it softens making it easier to add or change the sandpaper. You could also warm it slightly to more easily add or remove the sandpaper. Enjoy, 'El.

Ok, it is a heavy chunk of hard rubber. Which means, if you are using it for sanding and really having to get into it, this block is a good thing to have. Because it adds some umph to your sanding action. I am not totally sold on the little spikes that holds the sand paper in place but we will see how that works out over time. That being said for what and how I use this sanding block will function properly for me. However, if you are going to be using it a lot and comfort is your thing I would probably go with a different brand.

I think this product is great. It fit any sandpaper I put into it, very durable, easy to use and easy to change the paper, it'/s a solid weight, and durable. Also good value.

I was completely surprised to have "rediscovered" this simple wood-working tool! I had used this when I was working in several cabinet-making shops before the turn of the century. There have been/are numerous types of sanding blocks on the market but in my opinion none of them match up for over-all fine finishing than this one.One thing that I found out to make this block work "perfectly" is that when you have cut/torn the sand-paper to size- lift/open up one side and slip the paper in all the way. (If it is a course ie 120/ 100/ 80 grit etc it helps to run/pull the BACK over the edge of a board or table to give it more curvature/flexibility)Then using palm of hand pull towards opposite side and then curl the end into the opening; even slightly bending the bottom of the block to make as tight a fit as you can. Then crunch down the lip over the end. There should be very little "slippage/looseness" if you have succeeded in properly mounting the paper. Now you are ready to add all those finishing touches that cannot be done in any other way with so much efficiency!!!

The rubber material of this sanding block is too stiff. It is too hard to pull back the top layer to load the sandpaper, and the rubber started to crack the first time tried to load it. It also leaves black residue on your hands which does not completely wash off with normal soap and water. Not recommended.

Good sanding block. Stays flat for cleaning up engine gasket surfaces.

Only used this sanding block about a dozen times and the one end where you attach sandpaper started to crack and finally broke off. I found rubber to be a little tough in order to install sandpaper.
