You can use any cup for dosing, but here are a few reasons to get a proper dosing cup like this:1- The shape is perfect for people who like to spritz their beans with a mist of water (to prevent static and clumping) and then put their hand over the top (the cup shape fits your hand shape) and shake.2- It pours into your grinder much more easily than a round cup.3- It looks nice4- The bottom ring allows it to sit easily on some of the very small modern coffee scales.

Quality isn’t great. Arrived chipped. The funnel is very narrow, resulting in beans getting stuck. Can find a better quality product for the same price.

This easily accommodates our 18g doses of espresso. It could likely take 20g or 21g but that'd be the max and would need to be handled delicately to not spill. But at 18g we have no issues at all. Ours does NOT have a problematic lip at the spout that some have complained about.

This dosing cup works as intended with the extra bonus of being able to feed 2-3 beans per second into my grinder with amazing control. With being able to slow feed my grinder with this dosing cup, I'm getting more consistent grounds on my SK40, allowing me to grind finer and get more clarity out of my espresso. For example for a light roasted chiroso bean, I'm able to go from 14 to 8.5 on my SK40 conical burr grinder. This greatly improved the clarity of the flavor notes. While I could use my fingers and toss a couple beans into the grinder at a this time, this improves the consistency of my slow feeding.

Good quality and weight. Can hold about 40-50 grams of coffee beans before overflowing. Perfect for dosing one to two cup pour overs or espresso.
