I fairly immediately realized the problem with reviewing this: my wife asked if this independent brand with not that many reviews on Amazon or elsewhere she could find on the internet, had its products independently certified by outside labs like the name-brand and perhaps some others do. Apparently not.What that means is that all we can do is see if it fits into our PUR filter - it seems to - and see if water comes out. It does. But does that actually prove anything? The PUR filter I've been using previously has a rubberized hole in the back, while this one is hard plastic. Does that matter? I don't know. I don't see why it would for our design of filter, but it clearly costs more to produce that way. There also seems to be a squarish rubberized gasket on the PUR which isn't on this one. Again, I can't know why.Do my wife and I have the ability to tell if it's filtering heavy metals, or really anything else? No, we'd have to rely on certifications by independent labs for that.Once my wife told me she wanted to stop using these, and explained her clear logic, I was chagrinned. A company can assert anything they want about a product, and if it isn't certified, which probably means a well-funded company with a lot to lose, the consumer is reduced to just believing what they read. My wife doesn't want to drink the water out of these because she thinks there's no reason she should.Let's face it, almost anyone could make a piece of plastic this shape which would spit out water. It's probably incumbent on a new firm to trot out lab tests showing that their standards are verified.So we're going to quit using these. I agree the price is much better than the name brand, but my wife strongly feels - and has made a good case - that we should have a high standard for something like this. In terms of water taste and flow, these seem to work, but our tap water tastes OK even without filtration, so it becomes very subjective.If I could have found independent testing anywhere online for these, even outside Amazon, this could have been a 5-star review, but I was unable to. Rather, it becomes one of a number of PUR-compatible-fitting cartridges which are discounted, and which we have no way of really assessing.I'll note, as part of this review, that unlike the brand name, these don't seem to be packed in airtight mylar. That is, if you squeeze them all the air will press out even before opening, so they may not even be sterile.The only reason I'm giving 3 stars on these is that I could have researched them more beforehand and decided not to get them. If they publish independent testing, I'll happily up the stars on this review, but frankly not being packed airtight would be enough to drop it to 3 stars in and of itself.

This filter fit perfectly and you can see in my picture that it looks exactly the same as the Pur. The taste seemed the same, and I am satisfied, assuming all their claims are true about what it filters out.However, after using it for a while the stream is still coming out strong, which makes me question if it’s really filtering well. My experience is at this point the water would start slowing. I’ve lost some confidence so took off a star.

No weird taste, fits the machine, just remember to rinse it and run it for a couple minutes before drinking to be safe. Really nice to be able to get a bunch at once instead of like one or two!

Great having multiple in a pack. Each filter came wrapped in it's own individual air sealed bag and each filter was placed in an individual box. These fit our Pur faucet filter perfectly. It snapped right in. Water flow is good and tastes purified. Very pleased with them so far.

The first one of these we tried flushed out black specks like some pitcher filters do before the water became clear. It didn't slow the water flow like the name brand filter, so I installed a different one of these. It neither flushed out any carbon nor slowed the water flow. Switching back to a branded filter slowed the water again so I know it isn't just a problem with the filtration unit itself. I'm not sure I'd trust these without further testing since different ones in the same package behaved differently and none affected water flow rate like the name brand filters.I finally noticed where this product description advised soaking filters in water for 3 minutes before installing them. I'll assume that would've led to different results and go with 3 stars.
