Very easy. Dip in the water, hold for 20 seconds and the color changes immediately. If you see the picture I took, the Hard Water is brownish red and the Soft water is green. It doesn’t get easier than that!

A very generous supply of easy to use test strips. I like that there are several sealed packages of strips resulting in greater shelf life. They seem accurate however the low degree of precision takes some getting used to. (For greater precision an expensive meter would be required.) Overall a good selection for basic hardness checking.

Seems to work good. About the same results as a professional water test as far as hardness goes.

I am not sure if I got a defective one but this appears to not be working. I used the cold water from my kitchen sink and tub and it showed soft water (Green). I was expecting hard water as we just moved in and our skin has been really dry after showering. I then used an electronic tester and it showed hard. I don't know who to trust as I used the electronic one on warm tub water and it showed that the water was even harder than the cold kitchen water. 🤦

It’s difficult to distinguish water hardness on the color scale, since the color differences are so subtle. Similar products seem to have the same type of scale, so it may be an inherent issue.
