Fortunately, the fan on this can be replaced, if it wears out, or if you have problems with it. PoE is a feature I always felt should be built-in to the RPi. The only real complaint with this adapter, is the fact that this plugs into the GPIO bus, so that may be problematic if you wanted to use a hat with this. But, if you don't want a hat, then this may fit your needs, with the main issue being the fan. Waveshare has another PoE adapters, that don't have the fan, so if that is a factor for your decision, you have choices. This PoE adapter works as expected, and is a nice feature to have, to help simplify cabling.

I used this with a robotics project. I had example code so using the hat was very stright forward and the motors worked the way they should. It is a I2C interfaces so there are a lot of good examples to reference.

It works...But I bought 4 of these and 3 of the fans started making noise within days of install.Look elsewhere, probably one of the fanless is the way to go.

It took me a while to get around to reviewing this Motor Driver HAT because, as a teacher, I haven't been able to spend as much time tinkering with electronics recently. However, I eventually got it set up for a project where I wanted to use a motor as the physical component of a video game. It was ambitious (for a beginner like me). Although my project didn’t pan out due to other reasons (the non-electronic mechanical design was flawed), I can vouch that the device itself worked as advertised. Setting up the HAT was pretty straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions and the example code i used. Integrating it with my Raspberry Pi was easier than I expected. Despite my project hitting a snag, I was impressed by how well the motor operated. If you’re looking to add some mechanical aspect to a programming solution or implement a motor-driven projects with a Raspberry Pi, this HAT is a choice that will work for you. It's ease of use, even for a beginner, will help your project succeed. Just make sure your project plan is solid, unlike mine!

Worked great for the first day then the Fan started making noise now I need to look at getting a proper fan for the device. Poor chois of components.

Fits a treat and just works. Fans a bit noisy but maybe they are all like that
