My first crafting hand tool was pliers to apply plastic snaps to cloth diapers. While it got the job done, it took a lot of hand strength and force, it was a bit clunky and it was easy to lose the different dies to be able to apply different size snaps.Compared to that, this tool is a dream! While it might seem a bit heavy, it is solidly built and intelligently designed. The hole punch with the markings for both centimeters and inches with a marker to hold your place was brilliant. The first time I went to punch a hole in my fabric, I couldn't believe how easy and effortless squeezing the handles was. Because of the snap pliers, I was ready to put my all into it, but they closed as easily as closing a stapler. I figured out how to set the guide to hold my place by the time I got to the second hole. Rather than use the dots I marked with chalk on my fabric, I used the guide and they came out perfectly aligned. It was easy to turn the dies for the size and type of eyelets I was using by following the markings on the tool. (I read the directions also, but we all know those will get lost one day, so the markings on the actual tool are helpful.) Once I got everything lined up, squeezed and the eyelet was set! My eyelets were set on a corset that was threaded and worn quite a few times. No eyelets ever popped out or tore away from the fabric. The locking feature is also appreciated as it will prevent my kids from trying to play with it and will be good for while it is stored away.I am extremely pleased with this product and now have a reliable tool to set eyelets on other projects.

Crop-A-Dile has the reputation for being one of the best eyelet and snap punch and it's certainly not undeserved. It works as intended and it works well. It has been mentioned that the Crop-A-Dile will ONLY reach as far in as 1" -- So, if you need to set an eyelet further in from the edge, a pliers-style eyelet setter such as this one isn't well-suited for your needs.If, however, you have no such need, then the Crop-A-Dile MAY be the more convenient way to go.The Crop-A-Dile will accommodate eyelets with holes of varying sizes, e.g. 1/8", 3/16", 5/32" because the size of the punch (2 sizes to choose from) and the size of the anvil (4 sizes to choose from) can be set. Refer to the picture on the product page to see the 2 black parts of the Crop-A-Dile -- these are the widgets for setting the sizes for the anvil and punch.I do want to mention a point which might be noteworthy. The mechanism for adjusting the depth of the hole punch is no longer metal -- there has been a design change. The depth adjustment on my Crop-A-Dile is plastic. Most people tend to PERCEIVE plastic components (as opposed to metal) as being more inferior in quality -- I'm no exception. I was a little disappointed to see that the depth adjustment on my Crop-A-Dile is plastic. To be fair, it does work well.Eyelet setters come in at least 3 flavors: (1) the pliers style (like the Crop-A-Dile), (2) the hammer and punch style e.g. the (which requires the use of a hammer) and (3) the punch style (which requires NO hammer) e.g. .---The Crop-A-Dile has worked very well for me. Whether it will work as well for you will depend on your needs. You have many styles of eyelet setters to choose from, so look around before deciding.

I got these for a book project, but now I’m excited to see all the other things I can use these for. I’ve never used an eyelet tool in my life, and within ten minutes of me opening my Crop-A-Dile I had successfully set my first eyelet. This was easy to learn how to use, and I have to admit I feel proud of myself for using such a specialized tool.This tool is sturdy, and easy to use. It has been very durable as well. I consider this a very quality item, and I’d definitely recommend this for fellow crafters.
