Yes, this is a very expensive compass, but it is a very nicely engineered and executed drafting tool. Due to the pivoting feature of the pencil attachment point, one can draw very large diameter circles with this compass and keep the pencil pointing straight up and down...yes, as big as a 24 inch diameter circle is possible as stated in the product description. With care to prevent the point from skating away, I was able to draw an accurate 28 inch (71 cm) diameter circle.

Great for drawing large range circles. It's got some weight to it, built sturdy, I really like it. The pencil and the sharpener was quickly replaced, both were garbage. For how expensive it is you think it would come with a decent pencil and eraser. If you have the money to spend on it then I'd say make the purchase but if you're low on money, skip it, you can find cheaper alternatives.

I like it, but it would have been PERFECT, if they had only made it with a slotted quadrant, to lock the adjustment - Nice, though

Very Nice. Easy to adjust screw for desired opening friction. Pentel Techniclick II pencil works great. Pencil purchased desperately.

Save your money. Buy an alternative product. The precision of this instrument will not matter when it arrives in bent condition. It's not returnable so you're stuck with a worthless nautical tchotchke.0 out of 10DO NOT BUY!!!
