Please realize that you are purchasing large rods. That's what I wanted but they dwarf everything else I already have. They come with a small loop of ball chain but no strikers so keep that in mind. They are difficult to get a good grip that maximizes as much length as possible so I used some scrap white oak to make handles and epoxied the rods into the handles. This still provides a good bit of usable length while making it much easier to handle. The shaving that comes off of this is phenomenal. The sparks are abundant but with the proper striker and technique, you can stand and produce sparks that will land on the ground and still have some burn time, which is what you when working with tinder bundles.I may not carry them in my EDC pack due to size and weight, but they are now part of my permanent fire making bag that gets used most. I'll be back for more when I have worked my way through these two.

Good size, you get two, and they come with pre drilled holes. They also come with key rings, but I strung mine with leather strips. Good price for two of these life saving sticks.

I have only used inexpensive magnesium blocks that have a striker glued to one side. They work but nowhere near as good to produce spark as these ferro rods. Some people have stated they are large and heavy but to me they are just right. One rod weighs 3.9 oz, are 1/2" by 5". Long enough to "throw" a good hot spark and thick enough to not break when applying some pressure. I sanded the coating off one side, used the saw back of a Leatherman and was able to light dryer lint in two strikes. Excellent product.

Good showers of sparks once you get through the outer layer. Very impressed with the performance for the price

This ferro rod will set your pants on fire. Really, I use a sharp knife to scrap tinny fibers off the cuff of my pants into a small pile and hit it with sparks from ferro rod and boom, I have an ember that can be made into a fire. A sharp knife (not stainless) works great to make massive sparks.

These thro sparks better than the expensive name brand ones do, I have both. These don't come with paracord handles but you can easily add them if you desire. These are capable of starting 1000s of fires if you have right tinder and a few skills . No striker with these you use back of your knife or blade whichever you prefer it will work. The black coating on these is not no where near as bad as other similar brands being easy to remove on first strike or 2. I mean what's left to say this will save your life if needed and if not what's a few extra ounces in your bag or pocket. Buy 4 lol I definitely 100% recommend this product and recommend buying a few for each bug out bag or hiking pack. Excellent for barter too.

Great sparts from these Rods. They are a good size and very easy to hang on to.

I honestly didn't expect much, because of other disappointments with online purchases. But the iron rod is strong and robust, and the sparks are good enough to start a fire without having to "suffer" with it.

Huge. I knew that when I ordered. Have tons of ferro rods in various pieces of kit, but I wanted some big ones for a fire kit. The large size is good when your hands are frozen in the cols and you're wearing gloves. Throw good material and I get fires started easily.

Pretty large. Notice that they are 1/2" by 5" I was expecting something key chain size due to the photos showing a key ring but that would be very impractical with these. They're great though. Went out and started a fire yesterday no problem.

They work, I have used the for a year now on a lot of camping and hike trips. Better than a lighter if you use proper tinder like birch or jute.
