I decided to keep a pair of general purpose scissors handy in every room of the house, and these fit the bill! These 8-inch scissors are nothing fancy to look at, but they cut cleanly and comfortably. There are always snack bags that need to be opened, loose threads on clothes that need to be removed, empty delivery boxes that need to be flattened before recycling, etc etc.

A lot of what I cut is adhesive backed, these don't gum up nearly as bad

I bought some of these a few years ago, they were a little thicker and longer. New ones are fine
