When this hose broke I went to the local hardware store to find a length of hose I could adapt for this part. Luckily I met a plumber who said he'd tried shortcuts like that in the past and it doesn't work. Even more luckily, I listened to his advice! (I wanted to fix it and be done with it.) The washer is still running strong after 30-40 years thanks to this replacement part, among others.
